Default Need help in Ellicott City

Hey guys! First off, I'd like to say hello everyone and thank you for all of the informative posts. I've read through tons of the DIY topics on car audio installs, but I have no idea what they're talking about (not too technologically savvy). I just received my Alpine 9884Li HU and pioneer gm 5400t amp in the mail. Also, I picked up a Polk Momo MMC 6500 6.5" component speaker system (thanks Gvr4-330!). However, I am not sure about the install. After spending $500+ on these items, I don't have much money left to pay an installer (I would also need to fabricate an MDF board to mount the amp) <----(not sure if I used correct terminology in the previous parenthetical phrase). Would anyone in the Ellicott City area be interested in helping me out with the install? Let me know how I could compensate for your time ($, beer, food, knock-knock jokes).
Thanks.

If it were warm out I would help you no problem but I don't work on cars other than mine in sub 50 degree weather...

Did you find the ICE (In Car Entertainment) sub-forums? There is a TON of really good stuff in there on how to do this properly. There is even a guy who sells pre-cut and pre-carpeted MDF amp racks.

I strongly suggest you check it out. Learning and doing this stuff on your own is a lot of fun and can be really rewarding when you do it yourself (at least I think so). You can find the forum here.

That being said... If you are still stuck, I can help out when the weather gets warmer, too. Just like everyone else I HATE working in the garage when it is this cold.

Ya, the weather has been quite nasty and fickle the past few weeks. Where is global warming now?!?!

e3opian: that site www.bcae1.com is nice!!! It's great for those who are new to car audio. Thanks for that link.

WhrDLMI: I agree about doing things yourself. The satisfaction you get from completing a project is priceless! I searched through the sub-forums and found some useful info. I'll use a combination of the info from the sub-forums and www.bcae1.com to attempt an install myself. I'm going to try the install next weekend (3/6) in my garage.

RangOs2000: I like the vertical mount, which is what I want to do in my S. I was looking into going to Home Depot for the MDF board. You say you mounted the amp straight to the carpet? What is the purpose of the MDF board? Do I really need one?

SuzukaS2K: I think I saw you this morning at the intersection of Rogers Ave & 40.

Thanks for all of your input guys. Hope to see you guys around once I have my new baby on the road (waiting for plates)!!

I wouldn't mount to the carpet. It's not really sturdy enough to hold a heavy amp.

I bought some MDF board and carpet (thin). Now for the sawing!!! Man I'm so scared of cutting up the car.
