Default need some ideas for work!

So,

I've had some time to sit and think about what I want to do in my future and thought I could ask the people in my area what kind of jobs you guys have. More importantly, who likes their job and gets paid well for it? I've worked food + beverage and high-end clothing retail for most of my adult life and am now thinking about a career change/going back to school. Feel free to throw out any good ideas. I like people and I wouldn't mind travelling to go to different places. I guess I can start from there... Thanks!

Im the President.

but why change now? bored? want to try new things? i work at the ritz carlton in Georgetown. i get paid 17/hr. i work slave overtime hours 50+. steady 1200-1300 paychecks every 2 weeks. i love working there! i meet famous people! my coworkers are amazing! we can get really cheap ritz carlton stays around the world. so i can travel anywhere and stay where rich people stay. if this was a regular job, i would be mad working more than 40 hours a week. but i love it! and i tell everyone i do!

I would've loved to work at the one in baltimore. i'll look around. thanks for the suggestion. keep 'em comin!

I'm an Industrial Electrician. I make well into the twentys per hour. I've been working as an electrician for 8 years now and i love what i do. My company even paid for schooling. I get paid every week. I have a take home company vehicle with company gas card. Allmost unlimited overtime which is never mandatory. If i want some extra money i can work a Saturday for time and a half. Or a Sunday for double time. Here's a link if you think its something you might like as a career. http://www.northamericanelectric.net/
Where always in need of extra help.

I guess the main question is what you consider being "paid well" for your work. If you want to kill two birds with one stone, become a mechanic and then all the work on your car is instantly free + parts

But seriously... what are your passions? I find that following those routes makes for the best career moves.

thanks for the suggestions, everyone. my real passions are film/anime, video games, cars, fashion and travelling. Travelling is the only thing I haven't been able to do because of money. I also thought that my working in the industry of my hobbies would be a good career move, but am drawing blank thoughts on how to break in. has anyone else been in a similar position?

I design and develop web sites, mostly in Flash. I bill out between $125 and $150/hr. I work for myself. I have plenty of free time and still manage to make a good living. If you felt inclined to check out that line of work, there's a huge demand for it (well, skilled Flash design/dev) and you can focus on particular industries (film, video games, cars, fashion, etc).

It's all about networking and knowing the right people at the right times. I guess the same can be said for a lot of industries. Just a thought!

this is a stretch, but i'm just throwing medicine out there as a possibility. there's a 45 year old guy in my freshman med school class. he majored in theater in college way back when and worked in the film industry as an assistant director in hollywood. but he's one of the top students in our class.
