Default Need Wheels, Emergency

Does anyone have a set of OEM wheels with tires that I can borrow, rent, or buy? My passenger side wheels are bent and blistered. The front passenger side wheel is on back-order until June and I am trapped up in Fairfax. I will be back in Fairfax again the first week in June. I know that this is a very odd request, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Eric

I can be reached on my cellphone at 919-308-9178.

Or if anyone has a single 18X8 and 18X9 Oz Superleggera grey that would be perfect. Once again I know that is really reaching, but thought I would throw that out too.

Well here is the story and the aftermath. I drove up to Northern VA last Thursday to celebrate a late mother's day and my 24th birthday with my family. On Sunday I was driving over to visit a friend from college. I was waiting at a stoplight and after the green was going about 10-20 mph due to traffic and I entered a construction zone. The van infront of me hit it as well and I couldn't swerve in either direction without hitting either a jersey wall or oncoming traffic. All of the sudden the passenger side of my car sank and it felt like I hit a wall. The impact knocked my pod/gauges off the A-pillar and I was afraid that the tires may have blown. I pulled off down the street and surveyed the damages. Both passenger side wheels were bent and the sidewalls on both tires had blistered from the impact. I went back and found a square cutout in the road (clearly construction related), this was not a pothole, that was between 1 and 1.5 feet deep.

I called the Prince William County non-emergency number who were very helpful, NOT!!!! They basically told me I was SOL and gave me the number for VDOT. I called VDOT and found that their offices were closed on Sunday but did get an emergency number. The guy at the emergency number told me to call on Monday when the offices opened and file a claim.

Yesterday I called and the woman told me to submit a letter to VDOT that would be sent to Richmond for review. It will take 2-3 weeks before a decision is made and even then the woman told me that doesn't mean they will definitley accept the claim. My father wished me good luck trying to get over $1000 from the state. I examined the under side of the car and was absolutely relieved to see that the exhaust didn't hit. The 3" pipping sits noticeably lower than the factory exhaust.

I was on the phone with Tirerack for over an hour and they were great, but didn't exactly have the best news. The OZ Superleggera wheels are being discontinued in grey/titanium. Not only that but the tires I just bought a week before Wake the Dragon are also being discontinued. The only good news was that they had one of the rear wheels in grey left and I quickly put in on the plastic until I get a check from insurance.

INSURANCE......The next step. This morning I met with the claims people. Insurance says that I am covered under collision not at fault WOOHOO!!!!!, but I never reported my wheels D'OH!!! This morning was a gamble as to if they would cover the wheels or not. The guy from the insurance company was awesome. He went with the local price for Pirelli tires and told me if I could provide him with my receipt for the wheels that he would reimburse me for their full value. Unfortunately the receipt is at my place in Durham, but I can work around that. He also added the amount for a four wheel alignment to the claim.

So now I am stuck in NoVa for an unknown amount of time until I can locate the front wheel and get some tires. This whole thing has been a nightmare. Luckily I brought Macy, my pet hedgehog, home with me on this trip or she would've been in NC trapped in her cage without exercise for way too long.

I know this sort of thing has happened many times to other people. Raul immediately comes to mind as the most recent case I can remember. Hopefully things will be taken care of quickly via some overnight shipping. I will keep this thread updated with the progress of getting everything replaced.

Okay...I was wrong . Not the first time that's happened . What's a real shame is that Gregg just unloaded his 18" OZs to mattestrela from NC just last week .

PS. This is the point at which you would probably say, "Dave, you're not helping"

Thanks Dave..... I called the O.Z. distribution center and they are searching their retailers for any instock items. Hopefully that will turn something up.

The latest news is that the O.Z. Superleggeras are being discontinued in not only the gunmetal/grey but also in the +45 offset. So now today I had to order a pair of new front wheels with matching offsets. The insurance company will not be covering the replacement of the driver's side wheel. The O.Z. distribution center was unable to locate a wheel in North America in the size I need.

Terry, thanks for the offer. I will keep it in mind. The new set of front wheels is back-ordered until June so I may need to talk to you in a few weeks. In the mean time insurance is covering a rental car one-way to get me back to NC and my S will be parked until the new wheels/tires arrive.
