Good choice although I echo others' sentiments regarding opting for the coupe instead of the convertable. Sounds like you're on the right track on the transmission (I don't think I could do paddles on any car thats not on an exotic level).

My buddy loves his E46 and I love my E92, great cars. However, be very careful about saying "never" with regards to the modding I said the same thing and find myself shopping for "just a few bolt ons" and we all know where that can lead

Be sure to post pics when you get it!

bro how much money did you get from deployment???? LOL

save for the NSX man.......it'll be well worth it in the end

The E46 will end up with more money out of your pocket

just a thought

Aww, an E46 M convertible? Please go with a coupe and make sure it's not an SMG.

I recently sold my S2K. I was searching for a nice drop top replacement. The E46 M3 was on my short list. After doing a lot of research and talking with service advisers & owners I am no longer interested. Their services are ridiculous. Stay away from the 01's, anything with an SMG, anything without service records. Price out a service 2 and let me know what you think. Needless to say I am looking for another S2K.

Thank you for all of your opinions. I am just now leaving on Vacation. I am just super stoked on this whip. Regardless i am getting the Vert. An NSX isnt out of the question forever. Just for now. Need a four seater. And i know about the mods. I already am researching the I/H/TP/E springs and wheels. Ha. But no FI. No body work.

As for servicing it. I know the costs. And am willing to pay for it.

You need a four seater, but have you looked or sat in the back of a E46 Conv?

nah. Not yet. I drove an E46 coupe for a week before. But there has to be more room than a civic.

Good man! S2K owners tend to be somewhat spoiled when it comes to maintenance costs I think

Besides, Ferrari's cost arms and legs to maintain (literally). Would I let that stop me from ownership of one if it were in the financial cards? Hell no

Def. post up pics when you get it and I'm going to start going to some M3Post meets with my buddy soon (they do a monthly social at bars in rockville and/or columbia). When you get it PM me, you should come along! :EDIT: Doh, just saw you were in SoVa

Nope, unless you're willing to have 4 uncomfortable people instead of 2.
