Default New s2k owner ready to mod

hey
just got a 01 s2k that i have been wanting since the day i have seen a s2k , and im about to do some mods:
I want to get: oem lip , countersunk shift knob, 8000k hid bulb replacements, and also drop it (springs & shocks)

wanted to know some places to look and some brands that work well with the ap1 ( at the same time not tring to go overboard on the costs)

oh yeah also does anyone know anyt places in the NOVA area that can do a clean powercoat on my stock wheels? prices?

thanks

Congrats on the car... just a little advice if you care for it... 8000K bulbs are very useless IMO. Ive seen cars with 8000k and 10,000k HID bulbs and there is little to no actual illumination on the road. They look cool and different colors and are bright but you can't see worth shit... Just something to consider if you already havent done so.

As far as brands, I have Tein S-tech springs but the Espelir springs are also very popular among other owners.. And I believe the Voodoo shift knob is a popular countersunk one, if im not mistaken....

Enjoy and drive safe...

welcome and congrats on the new ride, make sure you come hang out on 3/26 at the wash and wax, as for the mods, I went with the tein springs as well, I would save the money on the bulbs and do something else, but a drop and a front lip will definitely have you on the right track!

I would go with espiler's such a nice drop... don't waste your time with bulbs, stock 4100/4300 (whatever they are) are much brighter than anything in the 8k range...

oem lip

voodoo titanium

as for installs, I do work on the side at my house... PM me if you're interested.

Like everyone else said, the 8000k lights you want... waste of money.

My shop paints and clears wheels. Pm me if you want.

yea i know with a higher bulb temp. you lose visibility but i really like the deep blue hid look over the 4300k, either way im not in a rush to mess with that, but i was also lookin at he tein s and dont i need aftermarket shocks to provent any damage to my car or can the ap1s be drops on stock shocks? what is too much to pay for the tien s i found a deal for 140 shipped should i go with it?

Also as far as a oem lip i found one from some site for 350 painted Good or no good?

Stock shocks are pretty sturdy from what I've seen. Espelirs offer a greater drop than the S-techs and the stock shocks seem to handle them pretty well even after a while.

$350 for a painted lip sounds about right...

espelirs drop the car about 1.3-1.5 inches. I think the s-techs only drop the car about an inch.

The lip sounds about right. As for your wheels, you should talk to 4theheckof_it. He stands behind his work.

If you are looking at powdercoating your wheels, I've received quotes of about 150 per wheel.

Lowering springs reduce the life of stock shocks regardless of how sturdy they may be. Stiffer springs also do the same. Considering your car is an '01, it might be time to change out the Showa shocks anyway.

Painted lips? OEM lips come from the factory already painted, don't they? Knock-offs might be different.

skip's right. The OEM lip should come factory painted.
