dave22 almost talked me into the Dragon Friday afternoon, but I just couldn't
.
I threw the rest of the sound equipment into the car late on Friday night. I took Kyle to the NOPI show as part of his birthday doings. I did miss Stacia's tea party. :baddad: We left around 4pm so as not to miss Kyle's party/sleep-over.
Anyway, I met three S owners. The first was Steve from Yorktown. He came with some other friends to run the 1/4 mile. Hell, he even put some slicks on the rear! I don't know how well he did, but he seemed pretty cool. He knows dave22... not sure if that's a "+" or "-".
Then there was Ricky from Natural Bridge(?), about 50 miles north of Roanoke. He has a Silverstone with C-West front and sides and a small 423rwhp addition under the hood! He had Inline Pro bolt up a turbo kit pushing 20psi. With him he had his attractive +1 and I want to say his parents made the trek to see what NOPI was about, also. They seemed to be enjoying it.
Ricky and I won 1st's in our categories.
The third owner, Ryan I believe, has an '02 GPW. He is from the Dallas area. No, he didn't drive, but his buddy's 11-second car made the trip all the way from Texas. Both of them remember seeing my car at the Texas Heat Wave show in Austin last year. Ryan takes pictures for Tunerzine, an e-zine(if I remember correctly) as a part time gig while going to school.
I hope to see the two Mid-A'ers at a meet in the future. Both seemed Sorry, I have no pictures to add. One of Steve's friends took the time to send me a link to a pic of my car.
Thanks. I forgot that I saw the Cargee guy(Carlo) Sunday. I was sitting in my car listening to the Astros' game. I yell at him, but he didn't hear me. There was no way I was getting out of my very warm car at that point!
here is one of Steven's car with the slicks on it. You can actually "rent" these. The BF G. folks take your credit card and let you borrow the wheels to run on the track with and then you return them when you've made your passes for the day. Great way to advertise your tires, in my opinion. He ended up with a 14.9 as his best (out of 2 runs), car is stock and it was his first time ever at the track that day. He was worried about his differential also so he didn't launch it very hard. I'm sure with a little practice he would have gotten it lower but that's not bad all things considered.
Here's the one of Skip's sexy beast. I'm in love with this car. You can also see the top of Ricky's car right behind it, unfortunately I didn't get a shot of his. I was glad just to get one of Skip's because when I was around there, there were quite a few people always hovering around it and drooling like I was (if you look at the reflection on the bumper you'll see what I'm talking about)
my friend Paul was also with us, it's kinda funny how 4 S2K's were all within 20 feet of eachother. Coincidence? Here he is lining up with my friend Brian, I'm actually in the passenger seat of the Type R in this shot, can't see me through the tint though. Paul ended up with low 15 second passes on both his runs. Steven beat him on his first pass and he got the exact time as the Type R on this pass, but Brian trapped a little higher.
a ha! Found one of Ricky's that someone else took.
I'll be sure to post if I can manage to dig some more up.
Thanks for bringing some pics! I saw on dragVA where some guy was bashing S's 'cause of Steven's time. Steve was just being cautious. If anything, the dude should have at least acknowledged the fact that he was actually on a track.
Funny thing about where I parked. I was on the wrong side of the blue line. I was only showing, but was parked in the pits. Rookie!!! I told Ricky(Boosted S2000 on dragVA) to park next to me. Oh well, at least I got to meet some new peeps!
Looks like the heavens were about to open up in the pick with the Spa!
