Not-at-fault accident in NoVA — body shop + suspension specialist recs? (Fairfax)
2003 AP1, Suzuka Blue, 83107 miles
Hey Mid-Atlantic crew,
Long-time lurker, posting because I actually need help. My S2000 got hit while parked — a truck backed into it and pushed it against a concrete curb. Police report filed, insurance claim open, not at fault.
Damage is to the driver's door and front quarter panel (paint and body), mirror is knocked off, and I'm genuinely worried about suspension damage from the curb impact — subframe, control arms, possibly wheel bearings. Car is currently drivable but I haven't pushed it.
I'm in Fairfax, VA. A few things I'm trying to figure out:
1. **Body shop** — I know I have the right to choose my own shop and I want one that knows what an S2000 is worth, will use OEM Honda parts, and won't let the insurance company lowball the repair. Any strong recommendations in the NoVA/DMV area?
2. **Suspension specialist** — I've seen Artin's name come up on here a lot. Is he still around and taking cars? I need someone to put it on a lift and give me a written inspection report documenting any damage before body work starts. Anyone have current contact info?
3. **Diminished value** — Has anyone gone through a DV claim in Virginia as a not-at-fault party? I know I'm entitled to it, just want to hear how it went and whether it was worth the fight.
This car means a lot to me and I don't want it butchered by some insurance-preferred chain shop. Appreciate any guidance from people who've been through this.
MY06 suzuka blue got beaten up a while back, I took it to Ben at Daisy Auto Care in MD for a suspension problem, which he fixed AND he got the body looking purdy as he would say while staying in my budget. He didn't fix the busted up body panels but rather gave me a brand new front and rear bumper and a preloved driver side door (mine looked like yours after getting t-boned in a parking lot - oof, I feel your pain brother). He worked his magic on the suspension that's for sure along installing new soft top. As for the diminished value, I'm unsure what it costs to pursue vs the value lost; it does sound worth IMO. Good luck with everything.
I regularly used Ben at Daisy auto and he also did my suspension. I installed HKS Hypermax Coilovers. I did not use him for any bodywork and I akso have a Suzuka, so I'm definitely interested in what you pick please I akso need bodywork..good luck man
