Default paint shops?

ok guys paintshops in the bethesda/rockvile area? where are they and who to go too? i have one estimate from a shop in VA but that would require me to leave my car a few days or to remove the hood and leave it there. (its the hood i really need painting) that hood was a pain in the butt enough to deal with once, kinda don't want to deal with it again. does anyone know of any decently priced shops that maybe able to help me out?

do you really want to have a major body panel painted without the shop having the rest of the car there for them to usa as a reference for the match? i think this scenario is not going to produce a good match.

yeah, but i would leave them i bit of car to use, you know those darn small circle pannels on the front and back bumper i would just pop one of those sucker out and be like here match this, and also give them the honda paint code. its not that hard, i just hate transporting that darn hood. i schedual an appointment for an estimate at auto italia in rockville for tuesday, its either there or jacks auto body in baily's X roads

i think the point that ace was trying to make was. considering the hood is such a large piece of body to the car.. you should leave them the whole car so they can blend it to the rest of the car for it match perfectly. its just not a matter of giving them the paint code since theyd already have it.. or giving them a sample. all cars go through different conditions and natural wear on the paint and color that a "GOOD" bodyshop would want to have the whole car there to make sure the match is perfect. at least this is what i've always been told/done. good luck!

p.s. i always go to johnson autobody for my paintwork.. never been disapointed once and i'm a picky paint kinda guy =D theyre located off rt 3.. which you can take rt 50 to.

I unqualifiably recomment Rockville Auto Body in Rockville. Bruce, the owner, is a really nice guy and their work is top notch. My Spa looks perfect after having an $8,000 repair.

I second Marc's recommendation. I have sent MANY people to them (s2000's and otherwise) and never heard back a bad report. Their service is top-notch, as is their work. Hell, mine's been in there three times (or was it 4?).

AND YES... You need to leave the whole car. No two ways about it. The only reason to NOT have the hood painted on-car is that overspray and masking lines (a necessary evil) will be interpreted as signs of repair in case you decide to sell it - explanation or no explanation, that will lower the resale value.

Is this hood an aftermarket hood? If so, Rockville Auto Body will not touch it. They do OEM only. Just in case...

You can try Shady Grove Auto Care off of Gaither and Shady Grove 301-987-8400 ask for Dave. Fortuantely I haven't needed any work on my S2000 but he has done an excellent job on my Porsche and several things on my pickup.
