Part Time Job Opportunity
Hey Guys,
As some of you know I own a small IT shop that caters to the software development needs of small businesses all over the US. Unfortunately, as I run this business part-time I've become a bit of a victim of my own success (i.e. I have more work than I can handle myself) and I'm interested in the possibility of bringing a junior level developer on board on a contractor basis to help shed some of the heavy lifting so that I can concentrate on more architectural design.
I thought I'd open it up to my fellow Mid-A'ers to see if there was anyone that might be interested in some part time work (starting out slow at maybe 5-10 hours a week). This would be a great opportunity for someone just starting out in their career that has done a great deal of reading and research on their own but doesn't have a lot of real-world experience, or even someone who has a great day job but wouldn't mind picking up a few extra bucks in their spare time.
A fair bit of warning, I have always taught myself and my technical level has always exceeded my position due to the fact that I am constantly learning on my own so I am looking for a candidate of a similar mindset.
Here's what I'm looking for at a glance:
- Someone who has a solid understanding of ASP.Net and the .Net Framework (Version 2.0 at least, 3.0 is a bonus)
- A person with a solid understanding of OO programming practices
- Someone with a good understanding of relational databases (specifically SQL Server 2000 and 2005)
- Someone who can code in C# or VB.Net (Most of my projects are C# but there are a few clients who still insist on VB.Net)
- Someone who doesn't rely on schooling or their job to educate them. This person seeks out new technologies and learns them on his/her own
- Education level is not relevant to me. I had my first solid job while still in High School and know plenty of B.S. holders that couldn't build software to wipe their bum.
- Someone who can work with minimal direction and is not afraid to take on the responsibility to do work as an independent contractor.
The following are big pluses:
- Graphic Design Experience (or even just the ability to create clean looking graphics or use graphics packages)
- Knowledge of CSLA (one client inisists on using this framework)
- Knowledge of ASP.Net AJAX (Atlas)
- Knowledge of any other ORM frameworks
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Web Client Software Factory
PM me if you have any questions or think you'd be interested in the job (or know someone else who might be).
Like I said I'm still working out the details of all of this so I just wanted to take a few preliminary steps to see if I could find anyone that could do what I need
PS> If there is any reason why this isn't appropriate to post in here mods, please shoot me a message, don't want to step on any toes but I figured if I could bring some talent from the S2K community on board all the better to have that money spent going to someone's car mods
