Radar Detectors
Which radar detector should I get (this is for Maryland only
)? I don't really want to spend more than 300 bucks and where should I mount it in the car (I don't want it permanent so that I can use the radar in other cars as well).

I have a Escort Passport 8500 x50 hardwired and mounted to the left of my rearview mirror. It uses a normal RJ-45 (telephone) cable with an inline fuse, which allows me to use the regular coiled cord in other cars if I need to.
maryland and neighboring areas use mainly laser. For the price of a good radar detector get an escort shifter ZR-3. They work really well at scrambling laser, and if you want, later down the road you can get a passport 9500i, which uses GPS to build a database of false alerts, as the display for the ZR-3, and they will work together for detecting radar and scrambling laser...Unstoppable. We sell them at my store and I hear great things.

I'm running the same setup as gfactor. Use the included hardwire kit and suction mount. I also have an Escort 9500i and actually prefer it over the Valentine V1, but your $300 limit takes both of them out of the picture. Some of the lower priced Escorts might work for you though. I would really recommend you suck it up and get a V1 or 9500i.

You might want to think about getting a GPS and load the red light and soon to be all over the state speed cameras into as POI's.
