Recommendations for a muffler shop?
Can anyone point me to a good shop that'll do a resonatorectomy for my S? I stopped by a few places today, but the first place said they didn't have any stainless steel tubing, but could do it for $65-$85 if I brought in my own tube. Another place told me it'd be between $100-$150 for aluminum tubing, and stainless would be $70 more!
I'm near Silver Spring, MD, but am willing to drive around a bit if someone knows a trustworthy shop with good materials and workmanship. Thanks in advance!

I went to a Midas or something and they replaced the section with SS but did not weld anything, just clamped it. No leaks and it sounded cool, but I decided to go aftermarket a couple months later anyway
I think it cost like $70-80.

I would suggest giving a call to Chris Schmitz at the Meinke on Lee Hwy just west of Fairfax Circle on the south (left) side of RT 50 just before PJ Skidoo's as one is headed west.

I have been going to them for years with my other vehicles. They are straight shooters and I would tell him that I reccommended them to you.
I have posted this experience before. Once when I was there after doing a "pre- inspection" of my Toyota truck I had discovered a small exhaust leak. While I was waiting a Korean man came in to pick up his car. Chris explained that they had discovered that the problem with his brakes was that his emergency brake linkage on the right rear was "hanging up" and they needed to adjust, clean the brake, and lube the linkage. The charge was $28.60. The customer replied WHAT? Chris restated the work that they had done and restated the charge.
Again the customer seemed to be argumentative by his reply. Then the customer reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out the written estimate from a Midas shop for over $800. They had told him that his entire brake system needed to be rebuilt.
When my Toyota truck was ready. After they had found a small hole in the tail pipe just behind the muffler that they had installed years before, they tack welded it and when I asked them what I owed them they replied: No charge. I tipped them and suggested that they order some pizza and beer at the end of the day as it was a Saturday. It is my opinion if they do not have access to stainless or do not want to perform the work they will be up front with you.
I would be interested in learning how thinks turn out?

Matt,
Thank you for the referral. It sounds like a good place to know. I'll stop by next time I head out to VA.
Does anyone else have any recommendations? Ideally a shop that has actually done this particular operation before.
