yeah guys it was me...i'm fine and so is my friend. yes it does suck badly, i had left honda of bowie getting my oil changed and i just lost control around that turn at the light and fell right in the embankment. fortunately my car is not totalled and we are both not injured so thats all i can ask for. my insurance adjuster said its gonna be roughly $5k to repair, but my concern is not being able to drive the car for about a month or so
but wow thanks for the concern everyone, hope to be back in the swing of things soon, in the meantime i'm gonna finish crying

Just to let you know, you can save a ton of cash by getting the parts for the repairs yourself. Get the insurance check cut to you. Buy the parts from Jeff(hardtopguy.com). You'll save more than enough to cover your deductible.

Here's an example: Door(not just the skin) is about $500 list. Shipped from hardtopguy was around $380(?).

Unfortunately, I'm speaking from experience.

BTW, glad you're okay.

really...but would the shop agree to this? i really have no idea how it works cuz a friend of mine told me to get the shop to quote me on the factory parts and just get aftermarket parts, ie exhaust, bumper...
this is my first ever accident so i'm basically clueless
what was the extent of your damage?

Oh, a little more than yours.

Whatever shop you choose(and you have a choice regardless of what the insurance company says), talk to them. Tell them that you want to bring in your own parts. Now, if you have a lien on your car and that lienholder finds out that you've wrecked their car, they may try to ensure that their asset is restored to factory-like shape.

Even so, if you were to use Hardtopguy, they only sell oem parts. So you're covered there. Jeff should be back to work tomorrow. He's been gone some time and may be running around with his head cut off trying to catch up. Even so, call him at 1-800-342-8158 and ask for Jeff Geotz(gets). Don't bother leaving a voice mail. Tell him you were talking to me, Skip. If you can't reach him by phone, then e-mail him via his website. He doesn't usually respond to pm's on this site. He may be able to better assist you with advice.

I just happen to have a good relationship with my body shop. Not sure if that's good or bad that I use them so much.
