Default Redline Time Attack Brake Problems

Skip,

Thanks for the help and the offer for your Carbotech pads. It was a pisser missing the actual time trials this afternoon but at home I was able to get the old brake pads off and luckily there was no damage to the caliper piston. Here's a pic of the melted Porterfield R4 Race brake pad: You can see why the piston was binding with the pad!

I got the new rotors and brake pads on and I'm ready for Thursday's Seat Time at Summit Main.

Steve (from New York) cracked both front rotors in separate sessions.

Two weeks ago at a Summit Main FATT I cracked a rotor. I'm going back to stock Honda solid rotors:

Glad you made it home. Thanks to Jeff, Steve was able to run the second time attack session and placed third in modified RWD. Congrats to Skip for winning first place RWD Modified.

Glad I could help out Steve... It sucks when you are so far from home and have problems like that.

I have an open invite at my home for anyone of you track 's. Never hesitate to give me a call if you are in a jam or need a place to work on your car. I am a mere 20 minutes from the track just off of Route 9 near the VA border. My place is pretty humble but it home to anyone that needs a hand.

I had to be patient and slowly work it until the piston retracted enough to give the pad and rotor enough clearance to allow the whole caliper to come off.

You can see the backing plate and pad were holding the piston so we couldn't swing the caliper open, and the inside edge of the pad itself had curved around the inside edge of the rotor and that was keeping the entire rotor from coming off--and yet we could spin the rotor!

It's the damdest thing I have ever seen (except them shows in the Phillipines )

I'm sorry I didn't get to say goodby yesterday, but congrats on the win, the trophy couldn't go to a more deserving guy Skip

No, it was the chilly reception he got from the Hankook girls!
