Default Rick's Surgery Went Well..........

Just thought I would post to let all of our friends know that Rick is out of Surgery and doing well

Now for the gory details As expected, he had major collapse of the disc and compression of the nerves. They removed the old plate and bone, and as the surgeon said "Jacked him up and put in a new, larger plate and a new piece of bone from his right hip"

I saw him briefly at 6:30 p.m. when they wheeled him into his room. In that short amount of time he managed to drink some water, eat two popsicles, chomp down most of a six inch seafood sub from Subway(against my better judgement). Tried (unsuccessfully) to climb out of bed, but (successfully) managed to show all while doing so. Poor guy didn't realize they had taken his pants in the O.R. I was able to quickly grab the covers and keep damage control to a minimum while the nurse fled seeking a pair of pants. All our teenage daughter could do was stand there and shriek "OH DAD THAT IS SOOOOO GROSS!!!"

Needless to say he was wiped out after all the excitement. For his trouble he received an injection of Demerol/Vistaril in the left hip and proceeded to drift off into Goodnight Dreamland. (For those of you that have had Demerol you know what I am talking about)

Hopefully, I am going to bring my bundle of joy home in the morning

A heartfelt thanks to everyone who has e-mailed or phoned to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. It means so much to have such good people to call "our" friends.

BB

P.S. Do ya'll think I should pick him up in the S ?? I can throw his motorcycle helmet and duck tape in the trunk and securely fasten him to the passenger's seat for the trip home I promise to Vtech only once or twice

Good to hear! I wonder if we could buy him one of those \"Fisher Price\" Steering Wheel get-ups (with the horn & the buttons & such) soz he could *pretend* he's driving BlackBeauty while bed-ridden!
