It's supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. I have not had my car out for a decent drive since October

I was thinking about heading out to the mountains for a bit, maybe up over Thorton Gap in VA.

Anyone is welcome to drive along.

We can meet up at the Sheetz at 66 and 15 (Haymarket) around 11:00 am, take the back way to 211, take a run or 2 over the mountain then grab something for lunch.

EDIT here is a map of the meeting spot (it takes me about 40 minutes from Bethesda)

That's cool,

FYI, this will be a touring type drive, maybe wick it up on the mountain a bit.

Also We will be driving thorugh Rapphahnnock county and they are on a heightened alert, so we need to be civil in that area.

Here is a pic of the Gap, very twisty and lots of elevation change.

Working Saturday as well, so I have planned on going down to the Carolina meet/eat thing Sunday. Both days are going to be great driving days!

I just got back, it was a fantastic drive.

A bit chilly up on Skyline drive, but still top down weather

I did 2 passes up and over the gap.

And some exploration on some new roads in the area

Great shots. It was a fantastic top-down day today, and Sunday will also be great. I spent some time out around the Sugarloaf Mtn/Poolesville area this afternoon.
Are you driving on S-02s? I got some nice grip in the corners; it felt good to stretch the car's legs and not have to worry about wet or icy patches.

There are some nice roads in the Sugarloaf area, usually not to much traffic either. Try Thurston road off of Rt 109 the next time you are up there.

Yes S02's, They are still a little bit slippery on cool pavement, I had the rear step out a bit in a 3rd gear corner on the back side of the mountain (in the shade).
