Post Saying Hi and Install Question

Hi everyone!

Just got a 2005 GPW S2000 this past week after browsing around the forums waaay too much for the past two years. Currently living in falls church and commuting to springfield - I've already seen two fellow s2000 owners and given the thumbs up!

My only qualm with the car is that with the top up, it seems like there's a bit of a drone on the highway. I bought a roll of Raamat to put on the driver/passenger area, which should be arriving next week, but I'm still in the babying phase of owning this car, so i'm afraid to mess anything up!

If anyone in the area has experience with removing the carpet/installing sound deadening material and could help out one day, that would be amazing I could bring some beer/pizza and 50 bucks for your time if that seems fair?

Anywho, glad to finally be a part of the community!

Here's a pic:

Thanks!
Tommy

I've done it and I can help.. but unless you have a heated garage I would wait until spring. Sound deadening matt doesn't like to hold in cold weather.

Welcome!

Just FYI, mass loading deadeners like rammat/dynamat/etc hardly does anything for drone... they are more for panel vibration. you need a butyl layer to absorb the sound waves.

Magikcow, so you think maybe around the end of march or so? Or more towards april/may?

Si2die4 - sadly yes, the person who traded it in had on some all seasons with ap1 wheels for the winter - my plan is to pick up some stock ap2's with re050's for the summer in a month or two.

bighead - Hmm...I thought the Raamat was made of butyl? What products would you suggest for highway road noise/drone?

Thanks for the help guys!

I've heard good things about B-Quiet V-Comp: http://www.b-quiet.com/vcomp.html

I'm sure the Raamat will help, by how much, I don't know. I only have sound deadening in my doors to seal them up for increased lows from my woofers
