self-service car wash
Hey guys,
I am in an apartment right now in burke, and I have no place to wash my car, as my parents who lived in woodbridge Just moved to Maryland. If any of you know of a self-service car wash in the area, I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance!

If you're respectful, you can use the car wash bay at my place in Fairfax. You rev your engine or start spinning your tires or anything like that though and I'll help security escort you out.
They do shut the water off in extreme cold (under 30 I think) but besides that its open. Vacuum is .75. PM me if you're serious.

Certainly not as good as free, but the one self serve car wash I know of is on Sterling Blvd in Sterling, which is not far from the Dulles Toll Road / Route 28 intersection:

There are also two places in Manassas. One is Sam's Carwash on RT 234 between RT28 and I-66 on the north side of RT 234. They have both the power washer type (most of the bays) and a touchless high pressure wash.
There is also another place on the east (northbound side) of RT 28 between Centreville and the City of Manassas that has the power wash type.

There's also the 1 to 2 gallon solution. Grab 2 buckets of hot water, cart 'em down to the car and use some QEW - Quick and Easy Wash. It's what I use to wash in winter and is some seriously good stuff. There are also other no-rinse solutions available from Poorboys and a couple others. Check out the Wash & Wax forum (www.s2ki.com/washwax/) and www.Autopia.org for more info.

i heard its not good to run a convertible car threw a gas station style car wash. is this true?
also - to those who use the self serve wash places, make sure you check the brush before touching the car with it. those things ice up pretty easily during the colder weather.
