PM moparacker if you'd like a mid-A person to do the convertible top swap. Tony has done many, knows what he's doing, and charges a respectable rate. He's out of VA Beach though, and you'd have to go to him...but based on Beth's comments about shop fees.......Tony might be a worthwhile option.

PS. IMO, you'd get a top from hardtopguy as fast...or faster...than any local shop. Just my opinion there, but he's quick!

Jeremy,

I am dealing with this right now. So I speak from my experience just this past week on this. CALL your insurance company. If you have comprehensive it will be covered, they do cover vandalizm. My latch actually tore my top when it was closing but yours WILL be covered.

Hardtopguy has the best prices (not sure what shipping is to your area). The installation as quoted just yesterday from the best local shop in town .......... 900.00!!! They have to remove most of the interior of the car to replace this and that is all labor. He tells me about 15 hours to do the job. This local guy has replaced 3 or 4 S2000 tops and he says it's very involved but he's gotten better at it with practice.... I dare say you will get it done any cheaper and I would not suggest doing it yourself.

Good luck and if you want to bring it to Richmond I can recommend an awesome local shop that has a very good reputation. My State Farm agent has been sending people here for years and years.

Good luck,
klassyblue
Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll definitely keep that shop in mind if I have difficulty finding a good one closer to home.

Hmm. I'll have to keep that in mind. I haven't called my insurance company or filed a police report yet, but I plan to do both either tomorrow or on Monday. I'll keep you guys posted, and I'll keep Tony in mind as well.

OK. Not trying to whore my own thread here, but I did promise to keep you guys posted. So, today I filed a police report online, and I talked to my insurance company and filed a claim.

The insurance company said that I need to do the following:
1. Find the shop I want to use
2. Get an estimate from them
3. Take my car in this Thursday at 1:00pm to the Allstate adjuster and they will verify the estimate and then cut me a check.

So between now and then, I need to find a shop and get an estimate. Who should I take it to?

There's a shop out in Annapolis that SweetJ had referred me to. It's actually a boating shop, but they do work on convertible tops. I work with her and will give her a call. Maybe she'll chime in.

The dealer can also do this.

I installed my own top (did the '00 to '04 glass top conversion) and can talk to you about that if you're interested, depending on what your ins. company says.

Sorry to hear about this.

All I know is where NOT to go.

do NOT go to sure-fit in arlington. had an absolute horror story there a few years ago and had to sue them.

That really is unfortunate. I don't know why some people do this kind of thing to someone else's property. I hope all works out well in the end for you.
