Default Smoke Hole Cabins

Has anyone ever stayed at Smoke Hole Cabins WV or spent time in the general vicinity?

I will be there in two weeks (if my tires survive FATT) for a weekend. The drive down 55 looks awsome, I am just not sure what the best points of interest are. I will only have one full day to tour around.

Any feedback is appreciated.

That is a great area, I go out there on my bike a few times a year

For good driving Check out these roads, 33, 42, 219, 72, 32.

For places to go, Seneca rocks is just up the road a bit, Dolly Sods and Spruce knob are nice parks to visit (they are both on Gravel roads I beleive) another nice park to vist is Blackwater Falls.

The giant windmills are a sight to see on 219

Thanks George! I was guessing you would know the area. I think I will stay off the gravel roads. I live on one and the dust can mess up a clean car pretty fast. The interior is problem I have with it.

I will be heading out RT 55 to get there and then map some tours of the roads you suggested. The falls sound like a nice place to take a brief rest.

I grew up camping with my family at Spruce Knob. Beautiful place!

Stay on old 55, there are a few detours to the new superhighway (it's only finished in sections) which is just boring and cuts out the best parts of 55.

Deliverance was filmed in Georgia and South Carolina, but I am sure the banjo music is heard in West by God
