Softtop slashed-Finally Replacing!
Thanks for the heads-up about HTG but it will be a couple weeks until I have the money or time to replace the top. It looks like my insurance company will be finished on their end sometime next week and I'm planning on reinstalling my bumper next weekend.
I think I am going to make the bold move and go with topsonline. The vast majority of the time I go OEM, but I really like the look of the canvas. I haven't heard any serious complaints about the fitment and the two negatives I've heard about canvas in general is that it won't last as long and it is a bit harder to care for. I keep my car covered or garaged all the time (which should help with the longevity issue) and I am willing to trade off on more upkeep for the richer black color. I also did a bit of research and it looks like a lot of the high-end convertibles use canvas. There is a 6 series BMW down the street from me and that top looks black as night.
By the way Skip, I don't know if you remember but I picked up a broken airwalker lip in January or thereabouts. You had picked it up from tenblade along with a hardtop I think. I'll finally be installing it this weekend. Thanks again.

I thought your screenname sounded familiar. Old age has taken a toll on my memory.
They had offered to but the adjustor didn't take into account the tint on my rear window that will need to be replaced so yesterday I faxed him my original receipt and an estimate to have new tint put on.
The other issue is that my passenger seat is stuck again only this time I think it may actually be broken because I can't get it to move no matter what I do. It had gotten stuck before and I managed to get it moving again but this time it is jammed solid. It won't move forward or back and is so far back, I can't reach the bolts to take the whole seat out. I don't know how it could have gotten screwed up when the rest of my car was vandalized but it worked shortly before. The adjustor couldn't get into the car when he stopped by my house so he didn't include the seat in the estimate. He said he would authorize a supplemental payout if a shop can't get it moving again and it needs to be fixed/replaced. I'll spend this weekend trying to get that thing working.
By the way, seeing your car Skip made me decide to paint the diffuser part of my Ings+1 rear bumper Moonrock! Thanks!!

My insurance company (USAA) just called to inform me that they are waiving my deductible and paying me the full amount for the repairs. My cd collection was stolen when the car was vandalized and my policy had a $250 cap on media so they decided to waive my $1000 deductible because so many cds were stolen. What an amazing insurance company. The adjustor called and told me, "I've got great news that I think is going to make your day." She sure wasn't kidding!
They have always been good to me but they definitely went way above and beyond by dropping that deductible. The amazing thing is they didn't even request a list of all of the albums that were stolen. I think I have all of the empty cases at my parents house but, if not, it would have been hard to remember every album since the collection spanned 15 years or so. I counted myself a loyal customer before but now I am die hard fan.
In other news, I finally managed to get my seat out of the car. I had to beat on the base of the upright as hard as I possibly could. When I got the seat out, I could see that the back roller on the inner track was rusted solid. There was no water damage to the floor or seat or anywhere else so I am guessing it was just a defective roller. The last time I got an oil change, the dealership told me it would be at least $400 to have them fix the seat at which point I said forget it. A knew rail is going to cost me $60. Man that feels good to save that money.

I'm finally getting the new softtop installed this week. Thanks for the offer to help MacGyver but I'm going to bite the bullet and pay someone to install it for me. I just won't have time to do the install myself until the fall and I am tired of waiting. After the top is installed, I still have to have the hood repainted where it was tagged with "Blood" and have the left front fender repaired where someone backed up into the car when it was parked. When it rains, it pours.

@ Dan.
