If you're travelling southbound on I395 (from Washington towards Springfield mixing bowl) and take the I495 exit towards Tysons Corner (after Edsall Road exit), you'll notice a newly widened exit ramp w/ ultra-smooth paving simulating 3/4 miles of an F1 race track sloping downhill into a series of S-turns just begging your S to hit V-tec .. DON'T DO IT!!!

There's a State Trooper awaiting to greet you behind the construction barriers off to the right when you round the final bend at approx 137 mph. They should name this the NOVA money ramp b/c I've seen 3 cars get nabbed there since my close call.

If it weren't for my V-1 and a willing but unfortunate Subaru VRX, I would have been nabbed. As usual, I never speed unless there's a willing rabbit in front of me and the road is free of traffic. I was cruising down I395 at 65 mph and this rabbit shoots by me coming off that long ramp replete w/ sweeping curves. I maintained 60 yards back of him and matched his speed. As I round the final bend my V-1 goes apes and I immediately tap my brakes. The Subaru does the same but he's a second too late and ahead of me. Before we passed the trooper (he was faced the wrong way on the ramp behind the concrete barriers) his lights are flashing. I quickly moved to the right and the trooper flies by me and nabs my "buddy".

Be careful out there as the weather gets nicer the cops get happier!

I consider this my freebie for the year.

Thanks for the warning.

Also, heads up in NoVa. GW parkway is going under construction of some sort and have reduced speed limit to 40 mph (or 45 mph) . I know the morning rush hour is pretty fast, but saw some cops pulled over couple of cars on the way home. (early this week)

I didn't realize the GW was that bad. Whenever I'm on it I'm pretty much and flyin.

Normally am heading towards the city and have never seen any cops.

Another place to be very careful of one's speed is Quaker Lane between Shirlington and Duke street. Not only does the speed limit change three times within two miles but at one point as one is going up or down the hill to Shirlington the speed limit on either side of the divided road is different depending on which direction one is heading. 25 MPH if heading towards Shirlington and 30 MPH on the same stretch of road heading away from Shirlington.

CAN YOU SPELL REVENUE ENHANCEMENT?

^ You are right about that one, Matt, although I've never actually seen anyone getting a ticket. That is my main cut through to Telegraph Rd. The speed is low everywhere. I think 35 is the max. Very easy to go over...

I too have almost been nabbed by the popo on that new pavement. How many of you guys have your V1 hooked up in VA? I leave mine in the secret compartment until I leave the state out of fear of a ticket...
