Can you go to Summit without a roll bar? (Sorry if this is a stupid question.)
yes, and this event is at shenadoah, which is a shorter (less than 2 mile) 17 turn track, very S friendly... very fun

You bought a STI? Or just borrowing it

I am so not ready for this season.
George: Wifey got the STI. Got a set of KW V3 coming in for it. I get to beat on it at the track occasionally.

Skip: whats the old saying: check is in the mail.

Cale: Yea, I have been at summit about 8 times or so, but never on Shenandoah. It is supposed to be VERY techniqual and fun. I stayed away for a while because I was hearing complaints about the lack of runoff + concrete walls but apparently they have revised it and made it more forgiving if you go off.

STI has:

300hp and 300lb/trq
AWD
Brembo brakes
6spd transmission that can comfortably handle 500+ hp
LSD (front and rear)
pretty reliable car (bugs worked out at this point)

Mini has:
character
fantasic handling (for a FWD car)
nice gearbox
but not so fast.

We have also heard some horror stories about hydrolocking engines and reliabiity is somewhat iffy.

It actually came down to the RX-8 or the STI. She liked the RX-8 interior and overall looks, but the Mazda saleman was trying to play number games with us so we walked out and went to the Suby dealer. Got the STI for a little below invoice, 4.9% financing etc. The STI is a lot of car for 31K, the MINI is neat but would have cost around 26k. They are giving RX-8s away ( we were looking at a 6 spd with sport package for 22.5k) but they were insisting we use Mazda financing which just happed to be around 7.8%.

Very Cool, how did you talk her into that?

Does Barrie have a sister?

Those are very fast, that will be a good car for VIR, you might be able to catch me even

She has a couple sisters but they are not nearly as cool (and are married). I got the pick of the litter.

Expect to get used to giving me point-bys (at least on the straights).
