Default TEST PIPE in MD/DC/VA area

anyone around here have experience with the authorities cracking down on your test pipe? i don't even know how they'd check for it cause most cops i've come across don't know jack sh*t about cars but they try to sound like they do. also who has experience with getting your emissions inspection with a test pipe? --> you just switch it out for stock? i heard that on newer cars they just hook up the OBDII thing and check for codes (not sure of the validity of this statement).

there is one required emission component to visually check for on obd2 cars during inspection, that is the converter. I would put it back on before the test.

our cars are pretty low too so i dont think the cops going to try to squeez under the car to check. If he asks you about it don't lie though, just act stupid. "A catalytical convertor? wats that?! I just changed the exhausts!"

If you're willing to take the risk, go for it. The fine is harsh though due to it being a federal offense.

I believe it's in the area of $2000 + car impound.

but the question is HOW do you get caught for not having a cat? besides a shop turning you in, or emissions test results?

Just gut your stock cat, shove your test pipe through it (by shove i mean fab your test pipe in it), bolt it up.
