Default Top repair

The previous owner of my car had a very small hole in the top. He took it to Herson's in rockville, and they "repaired" it with a small patch underneath.

Well, the patch is falling off, and they did a generally shitty job. Anyone know of any dealers that do good work? Maybe a dealer that might consider doing a warranty claim on the top?

I don't think you'll have much luck getting a dealer to warranty the soft top. I'm in a similar boat but mine has gotten so bad I need to replace it.

my rear window cracked recently and am trying to decide what to do also. hard top might be the way to go. costs just as much as it would to replace the soft top by the dealer pretty much. that is a used hard top of course.

$2450 for Mugen FRP vs. $925 for soft top replacement... hmmm

I can't hit a switch to make the HT go away when I want. Then, storage is another issue. Bleh.

Exactly.

So aside from someone with a hookup, anyone know of someplace that can actually do a decent job with a small patch?

how many miles do you have on your car? being that it's an '04, there's a good chance it's still under warranty. if you check the "s2000 Talk" subforum (here on s2ki.com), there are a number of owners who have been able to get their tops repaired as a warranty claim.

Paymar and Phillips in Laurel did mine. Patch is holding up still--but it has only been about 2 months and the hole was pin sized.

14k. I'm sure I'm still under warranty, but due to it's location, I'm fairly sure I couldn't claim that it was rubbed through.
