Default Traffic lawyer in fairfax va recommendations

So a buddy of mine was down in va for a concert and just got a wreckless driving ticket down there. We're from PA and he was going 83 in a 55. I guess down in VA it's pretty much a wreckless driving if you go 20 over the limits. He was following traffic and was the one that got pulled over.

Any good attorneys that you guys know of down in that area? He just wants it reduced and doesn't care about the cost of the ticket. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!!

Oh he has 5 points on his license already so 11 points will make him lose his license.

Thanks! I'll have my buddy call him. It's ironic because we were talking about him only having to stay free of any traffic citations until August to get 3 points taken off his record...

They don't play around down here. It sucks. I've been pretty lucky and have only gotten little stuff like crap for not having my front plate on and having expired inspection heh

Well you've gotten yourself into a predicament, however most traffic lawyers get reckless dropped with ease. Simple rules to help you in our court system, 1. The wealthy in the area are favored by the police! Dress clean, shave, look rich traditional white class. 2. Be white! 3. Find a lawyer that works that court on a regular basis, has a pricetag medium to high but not top dollar and is rated well. The lawyer doesn't give 2 shits about you and neither does the PA (if your reckless is being processed in traffic there usually with you for about 20 min and bye forever.) Why do I say avoid the best? Unless you did something jail worthy you don't want some PA to try to go David and Goliath on you hoping to boost their career against a known name ( if it's traffic well your probably gonna be in and out faster.) The middle to average cost local lawyers here are within walking distance of the courthouse. Lets get to the point here, the cafeteria in the courthouse is heavily used by lawyers and DA's/ADA's that work their on a daily basis. Let me paint a picture, I ran away from a cop in a z3 m coupe and drift unturned through a red light before blasting away parking the car behind a building and walking away only to have a concerned citizen mace me as she saw the cop driving from where I just came. I found a local lawyer Thats been working the courthouse forever and has great reviews. I go to court he talks to PA and judge, they chuckle. I plead a weird form of guilty get a 10 over ticket 200$ and 24h community service. When I'm done, lawyer invites me to lunch at the cafeteria. I continue life with a slap on the wrist as I eat lunch with the arresting officer, prosecuting attorney, her assistant, my lawyer, and the judge, like its normal. Similar strategy employed when I was a teen and got caught with 2 lbs of Pottheadedness . Same courthouse, smoked a cigarette with prosecuting attorney and lawyer after leaving with my low grade misdemeanor in which was gone upon no more truble for a year.

I would just expect a 1-2 point ticket and a 500-1500 fine. If ur friends got a mouth tell him to stfu, I think our current maximum fine for reckless is 7500 and up to 2 years license revoked nationall, jail, and they just love to give it to wise asses.

Unless I'm missing something about PA, it don't matter if the ticket is for reckless driving, points from VA don't transfer to PA. You just pay the fine and move on. A few guys from NY got reckless driving tickets in VA, paid 400 bucks online and have a nice day.

VA doesn't play, these guys will hide behind a tree to radar you

He would only be suspended to drive in VA not in PA, just don't set foot in VA til it's up or better yet EVER. Get a speedo calibration to put you under 80 dropped "Virginia Reckless Driving"

There the minor thing about reciprocity and VA and PA have it. Better to get a VA traffic attorney and get the charge reduced. In VA (as you have already found out), anything either over 80mph or 20mph over the limit is reckless driving. The general speeding fine is $150 plus $10 per mile an hour over the speed limit (this is what it was in 2011, it may have changed by now). Reckless is a LOT more expensive and has more severe consequences. Get a lawyer.

In Virginia, a Class 1 misdemeanor is the misdemeanor with the most severe potential punishment. A person convicted of a Class 1 misdemeanor may be sent to jail for not more than twelve months and/or fined not more than $2,500. Reckless driving is only one of many crimes classified as a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia.
Here is the PA law:

The following offenses, if committed in a member state, would be treated as though the offense had occurred in Pennsylvania and the appropriate sanction would be imposed under the provisions of our Vehicle Code:
• Manslaughter or negligent homicide resulting from the operation of a motor vehicle (Section 3732);

• Driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcoholic beverages or a narcotic to a degree which renders the driver incapable of safely driving a motor vehicle (Section 3731; repealed 2/1/2004) Section 3802 (effective 2/1/2004)

• Failure to stop and render aid in the event of a motor vehicle accident resulting in the death or personal injury of another (Section 3742);

• Any felony in the commission of which a motor vehicle is used (Crimes Code and Dangerous Drug Act Offenses).
Although reported to PennDOT, minor traffic offenses such as speeding, red light, stop sign, etc., will (NOT) appear on your driving record, unless you are a CDL holder. Points will not be assessed to your PA driving record when convicted of a point related offense in a DLC member state.

Notice this doesn't say anything about VA Class 1 misdemeanors. Get a LAWYER and 행운을 빕니다
