Default traffic ticket question

so the other week, i got pulled on fairfax co. parkway. i think it was 69 in 55.

so i'm looking on the ticket today, and noticed, the officer placed the date of court as August 24th. if you don't have your calendars handy, it is Sunday.... obviously a mistake...

what can i do? can i use that to get out of the ticket? how do i show up? i guess i can go online to find out the real date right? isn't there something about me getting this dismissed if they screw up?

call the county clerk's office (clerk of court) and tell her there is a mistake on the ticket. 9/10 it will get dismissed or reduced to its no penelty. but dont just let this go and play dumb b/c you'll have a warrant out for you on your real date.

IF the cop doesn't know when the real day is and you show up in court unopposed you will have it dismissed.

My friend had a helluva ticket, 100+ in a 45mph and the cop didn't make it to court to testify against him. Case dismissed.

my friend's last name was missing a letter once and they dismissed the whole thing for street racing!!! So a wrong date should be enough to cover that. But def check it out!

Well FWIW, these "my friend..." accounts (while undoubtedly true) are "LUCKY BASTARDS". The fact is such matters are taken into account on a case by case basis...and WHOLLY at the presiding judge's discretion.

^^^ That TOO is from the 'voice of experience'

David, follow the 'call the clerk' suggestion offered earlier. And as for the rest of the matter, plan for the worst & hope for the best.
