Default Trunk removal

Is the spring removal tool required, for removing the trunk lid? I am finding conflicting results, as I search. Anyone with experience in doing so WITHOUT said tool?

Thanks in advance.

are you removing just the lid and not the supports that actually move? If so you definitely dont need the tool. If you are taking everything out you still dont have to have it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled without it. Just need to go to the gym some.

Don't need the tool to remove the lid only.

4 bolts, and the wire harness. Easy as Pie. The springs are attached to the arms.
