Default UPDATED: Can Anyone Help Me With a Buzzing Noise?

UPDATE: I got a call yesterday afternoon from my service writer at Sport Honda. The tech has diagnosed the noise as a bad pinion bearing and seal in the differential. The had the parts overnighted so they should be in today. They won't be 100% sure on exactly what's wrong until they tear the diff down this morning, but they sounded confident (confident enough to overnight parts in on Honda's dime). My service guy says it should be covered under my warranty and so should my rental car. So hopefully all will go smoothly and I'll have my S back today.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Some more info. I was chatting with a fellow car guy at work and he asked if the car sounds like a supercharger whine, and that is really a better description. I checked and no one installed a SC without telling me, so maybe it is my rear end?

If I got a penny for all the times I've heard a buzzing noise on my car... and hell if I got a penny for all the threads I've read about buzzing noises on other peoples cars...

I'd have A LOTTTT of pennies....

So tell me is it kind of like a Buzzzzzzzzzzzz or Bzzzzzzzzzzttttttt or Bzzzzuzzzzzzuuuuzzzzzzuzzzzz? I need more information about how the buzzing sounds...

Can you describe the buzz a little better?

Is it BZZZZZZZZZZZ or TICK TICK TICK or SQUEAK SQUEAK? Do you have any shuddering? does it feel like the tires are out of balance ie vibration?

Well technically "TICK TICK TICK" or "SQUEAK SQUEAK" aren't "buzzing" noises. Those are noises that are in their own classes... so please lets not complicate this anymore than necessary.

The man said "buzzing" noise so please lets stay with that...

Yes yes I completely agree... that is why i asked about what kind of "buzzing" it is... check out the first post i made in this thread.

I just see "TICK TICK TICK" and "SQUEAK SQUEAK" as being COMPLETELY different from buzzing... hence why i said what i did in my previous post.

Wow, lots of posts about the nature of the noise...

I would describe it as a buzzing, but it could be a higher frequency squeak (that is too high to really hear the intermittent "squeak squeak"). I tried my best to describe the scenario figuring that may help.

Do you have a microphone on your computer? Can you vocally try to replicate the noise and upload it so we can try to get a better idea?

The S2000 has many weird noises we just want to make sure that everyone is on the same page...

I don't, and people at work may think I am crazy

I'll see if I can figure out a better way to explain it on the way home. I know the S2000 makes a lot of "sports car" noises, but this is a new one. I have a feeling it is the brakes, but Im not sure.

What is the life span of an average set of rotors?
