US GP this week!
definate fustration about that race, but the blame definately has to go to michelin. i dont blame FIA for not bending the rules for the race. i would have much rather seen them bend the rules and do something along the lines of letting each team use one of thier pits to change tires. after all it is a spectator sport so make the fans happy!
yeah, i was there for the whole thing. i find it hard to believe that with tens of thousands of miles more testing than bridgestone had that they couldn't find a suitable tire. i'm considering joining one of the class action lawsuits already filed against the teams and the FIA for my money back since the speedway isn't giving refunds. i'm waiting to see how things shake out first though.
They should sue Michelin for the whole thing. It turns out that FIA allowed the teams to do pit stop just to change tires, so they could have raced if they really wanted. Also, it looks like Michelin only had problems with the set of tires they shipped to Indianapolis. They knew they had a problem Friday night and sent a cargo plane with a fresh set of tires for the race. FIA did not let them use those though since there was no time for a FIA inspection.
Michelin should pay and they should be banned from Formula one for a while...

people are putting out a lot of misinformation. the problem is that having more than one tire manufacturer always cause one to push the envelope too far. this is the case with michelin. they tried to gamble speed for reliability. the "fresh set" was also found to be prone to the same failure. worse then going there and not seeing a race for me was having to watch as these ANIMALS throw objects on to the track then have idiots applaud them.

yes i stayed and watched the whole thing, i was of course upset. but i am a ferrari fan so i was only half mad would have loved tosee a real race though. It is my opininon i have seen the last USGP at least at indy i think its a bad place for f1 anyways. But in the end of all this there is only one thing to blame and that is MICHELIN i dotn care what you say it all comes back to MICHELIN yes the ruling that FIA made was harsh but they would have to make it if MICHELIN made good tires, and there is no reason for ferrari to be made the bad guys becuase MICHELIN couldnt do their job. If i was FIA i would send all the suits straight to michelin. What alot of people dont knwo is that michelin shipped three different batches of tires during the weekend and none were up to the task, that seems to be a neglected peice of info in all this blaming of FIA. The water bottle throwing incident is a true sign of the american public that was inattendence at the race, to all the true F1 fans i will see you in montreal should the USGP be no longer! <- that was a mean comment and slightly sterotypical one, but a true one.

As I figured Michelin steps up and offers refunds to 120,000 people
Reuters story
it may not help with travel expenses but it is a smart PR / legal move.
