there is no real problem with it.. but i wouldn't suggest it.... just spend the extra money and get the aem ems... besides.. you'll be able to pull out a lot more power with it.... so how can you say no to more power..

vtec air/fuel controler

depending on which one you get they do a couple of differnt things.. but the basic format is the same....

usually you can adjust the vtec crossover, and tune the air/fuel ratio....

ohhh by the way.. it's just a piggy back unit..it's very limited...... not a stand alone like the aem ems..

evf2000 had a VAFC with his comptech supercharger & recently got rid of it and got into an AEM EMS. I would just highly recommend doing it right the first time. If your going to spend the money on the Supercharger, you might as well invest in an EMS too

If you're running a stock sc setup, a VAFC will get you by. Actually, you can run the Comptech one w/o management.

As previously mentioned, you can adjust VTEC engagement and tinker with A/F. It not the end-all-be-all. We were able to get the curve pretty smooth with one and made 7hp more, but it that was for the dyno. Partial throttle(real world) kept throwing CEL's , but that may have been from not soldering the wires. The dyno chart below was before and after VAFC tuning. You can see VTEC is extremely smoothed out and gains are evident in the midrange.

Should you get EMS? That depends on what you're trying to accomplish. If you're looking for a small piece of "peace-o-mind" and not trying to get those 3 extra horses, then a VAFC is fine. If you plan on going past a 7 lbs pulley, do yourself a favor and go all out. You'll probably need the same amount of money to tune as you will spend on AEM EMS and UEGO. So to that extreme, you must weigh $400 as compared to $3k(this includes EMS, wideband, gauges, tuning and is a guestimate).

Wonder where Rob got that EMS from?

well the vafc only really works at wide open throttle... and since it's a piggy back, the cars ecu tried to compensate for it.. and yada yada.... but it will work.. just not hardcore style...

I was thinking about a VAFC to lower my VTEC point and fine tune a little, but I don't want CEL's or any driveability problems.

No chance on spending 3K for a AEM EMS and tuning.

Skip, do think I can safely go with the same Pulley you have and just get the Fuel regulator adjusted w/o anything else?
