Anyone up for some wine? Next weekend is the 25th annual Vintage Virginia wine festival:

Bull Run Events Center

Drive two miles south
Turn left onto Bull Run Post Office Road and follow the signs

Tickets $20 in advance, $25 at the gate

If it's not too hot I'll be there with some friends, would be nice to tap glasses with some other s2k folks!

I've done two different Virginia Wine tours in C-Ville and one festival - and I'll never do it again. Virginia wine is pretty nasty - I can only think of two VA wines I'd drink, but I'd still rate those as $25 wines one could find in a grocery store.

Sorry to sound like a jerk Diane, but the last one I did wasn't even a month ago and I still taste it

I also love how these C-Ville Vinyards try to position themselves as authentic Italian Vineyards in a different country

Janet and I had a good time at a wine/jazz festival at Lake Anna back in 2002. We took the motorcycle and folks were just staring at us. We had some wine, some food, some music, some more wine, bought a bottle to go, rode, watched the sunset as we drank some more, rode back into town, had some more wine with a little bit of food. Good memory for us.

So don't go...no one's holding a gun to your head!

And you're not offending me, I'm neither hosting the event nor am I a vintnor. I just threw it out there because I heard about it and have a bunch of friends in Centreville.

There's a reason why you don't see Virginia wine for sale in any state other than Virginia.

Yes there is...it's illegal to transport VA wines out of state!

FYI: That law was struck down in July 2003

Diane, I will probably be taking Stephanie on Saturday (so I can do the wash and wax on Sunday too!)

I think it's unfair to say all VA wine is garbage. I got dragged to my first winery with her and her parents and I hated wine. I did the tasting for $5 and found one I actually liked. They bought me a bottle, and I've enjoyed wine with her every once and a while since. I've even learned to like other kinds. *shrug*
