Thumbs up Virginia Lease

To anyone with lease experiences in Virginia (dealership point of view) I have a question for you.

Is it true that in VA, the tax (3.17%) is applied to the MSRP of the vehicle and not the cap cost? That is what the dealer that I'm working with is telling me.

Thanks!

poindexter, black nugget and tharza are all in the biz down in virginia. i work at a dealer in pa and they only charge a usage tax (no sales tax). md pays tax on the cash price of the vehicle, not msrp, but the amount your buying it for

Doesn't matter if you lease, finance the whole purchase, or pay with cash - taxes are:

3% for Sales Tax
2/10% Gross Receipts Tax

And taxes are applied to the selling price of the vehicle.
