Default Virginia's Route 11 YARD CRAWL August 11

Not sure how much STUFF one can get in an S2000 (that's why I have a trailer) but thought I'd post this on the forum. Its a great Saturday drive and thing to do in the western part of NoVA with business sidewalk sales, yard sales, antiques, food, wine, and much more along 43 miles of US Route 11 in and around the historic towns of New Market, Mt. Jackson, Edinburg, Woodstock, Toms Brook & Strasburg, Middletown and Stephens City!

The event is being co-sponsored by the Chambers of Commerce of New Market, Mt. Jackson, Edinburg, Woodstock, and Strasburg along with Shenandoah County Tourism and by the Towns of Middletown and Stephens City.

Some Simple Instructions

1 Leave as much room in the vehicle as possible in case you find things to buy. Bring a cooler since you will be in the car for a long day. There are plenty of food options along the way, but bring some snacks so you don't have to cut much into your shopping time.

2 Start around 7 a.m. to beat the crowds. Start on either end of the route, but drive slow and watch for pedestrians. The route is filled with people on foot exploring the sales. Be prepared to pull over when you see something that interests you.

3 Bring small bills as most of the sellers will not have a lot of change. It's also hot in Virginia in August, so bring sunscreen and sunglasses.

4 Book a hotel early if you plan to go on Friday night. Some "early-bird" specials may be available on Friday night. The area also has plenty of antique stores and attractions such as the Luray Caverns and several Civil War battlefields.

Thanks for posting.

It's either brand new junk at retail, or junk bought at steep discount. I'd rather she buy the cheaper junk so that every year when we downsize and clean-up said junk it stings a little less to throw half of it away.
