Default Wanted: Rolling chassis in decent shape.

Got my first estimate on fixing my car. Eye opening.

So, I'm exploring the possibility of buying a rolling chassis. Doesn't need to have an interior or drivetrain, does need to have clean sheetmetal and no accident damage. If it's got good airbags, so much the better.

I'm not touchy about the title as long as I can get clear ownership here in VA (meaning salvage is OK, not that I'm looking for anything hot).

I have a trailer so, pickup isn't a problem. AP1 or AP2.

Anyone got anything like that?

Here's a related question, what's a 2002 S2000 with perfect drivetrain and suspension, full red interior (minus airbags) and a clean title and carfax worth?
It's got fairly significant front end damage and some in the rear. Didn't hurt the radiator or AC.

I'd call it structural. It's needs a dose of the frame machine. I have a couple more body shops to hit tomorrow. The first one wants to replace the frame rails though, I think they could be straightened. It's bent in front of the air-cleaner (the horns that stick out). Honestly if I had the equipment, I'd unbend it and bolt on new sheetmetal.

I wasn't going to make it too public. I hit a wall at Summit. Now it's expensive repair time. Car was great there too. No snap oversteer. Perfectly controllable. I just get distracted at a critical moment.

It was the drift school thing. I had a great time for about a 1/2 a day. Pretty well run. They were talking about making it like a FATT.

I'm going back out with an S2000. It's just a matter of when.

Going to be out there Saturday and Sunday with Mazda. Same track, different car.

were you on Jefferson or Big course?

I have seen people drifting that turn just to the left of the pits at JC.... there is almost no run-off.... seems like a dumb place to drift, but....

look at this car....10 hours left.

It was Shenandoah, they split it into 3 fairly distinct drift sections with an intersection at the normal paddock area. All the courses started and ended near the paddocks so, you could drive from course to course. I particularly enjoyed the one that started on bridge straight, cut across to the top of that u-turn at the top of the main straight then ended about midway down the main straight.

I've been eyeing that one too. I'm going to talk to a couple more body shops before I actually make the big decision. I really think I went to the most expensive place first.

It was great fun while it lasted.
