Default What to look for...

I have found the car that suits me and my budget. What are the quirks that Im looking for? I know about the back window...

I took an hour test drive in it today, there was no clutch buzz. I took it up to 6k in 2nd and there was no other noises. I noticed the dealership that has the car in Richmond did and State Inspection, and an oil change but they didnt use a Honda oil filter, should I be worried about something like that?

All of the body panels line up and all the paint matches, the car has a front lip on it, and has the black chrome emblems throughout, and the speakers were upgraded to MB Quart tweeters in the doors, and 2 behind the seats.

Any other quirks that I should look for in buying this car????

P.S.- I have already ran the Carfax on the car, and already made a deposit on it.

Thanks in advance
Chris

awesome dude good luck with it. you didn't say anything about tire tread depth and make sure all tires are the same? other than that looks like you checked everything that needs to be checked. might want to ask about brake depth and such just for reference. make sure the top is ok too, as far as rips inside or out.

good luck dude

Damn I knew there was something I was forgetting! The tires are good, they were brand new but some off-the-wall brand. The top was good because it was raining/snowing today when I looked at it, so there were no leaks.

I think I looked over the car an hour before I even test drove it!

See what off the wall brand they are. Id write the brand and tire size of front and rear down and then post it in here. There are some tire guro's who will be able to tell you if they need to be replaced. We can all testify that tires are not something to skip out on for this car.

Having owned the same since 2000, here are the things I have experienced w/ mine:

spark plug TSB (recall?), clutch and 2nd gear TSB, just recently the drivers window doesn't go all the way down when you put the top down and doesn't go "auto" down when button is pushed.

You may want to see if they can tell you if these TSB's were done previously, even if there seems to be no issue. I've got 55K on mine and mechanically, those were the only issues.

Good luck with your purchase and congratulations.

Scott

thats what I thought...

Theres plenty of info on this site discussing this, but Ill sum it up for you

The Stock tires on the AP1 cars is 205 in front and 225 in the rear. Although for some reason the 225 is actually 2 cenimeters wider, like a 245. For some reason the brigestone S0-2s are like that. I have two sets of wheels... one set with SO-2s and the other with Toyo RA-1s, which is a race tire. The 225 SO-2s are actually wider than the 245 RA-1s... just barely wider. SO... if you have tires other than Bridgestone SO2s on your car you need to have 245s in the rear.

hope this helps
