Default What size tires?

What tire size should I be running on 16x7 f & 16x8 r wheels?

I got my wheels with used tires (which are now bald). I am assuming the tires are currently undersized (205/55 & 225/55).

Also, any suggestions on a good street tire (obviously hinges on tire size)? I currently have Advan A048's. I only drove on them for a month (maybe a 1000 miles), and as I previously stated, they are already bald. So I need to get a tire that will last and will provide good handling.

Thanks
Chris

I think the reason why they are undersized is because you can't get A048s in the perfect size for your wheel combo.

Just call up Jim @ Tirerack and he'll set you up with the right tire.

Looks like I need a 245/45/16 for the rear and 205/55/16 in the front.

Tire rack doesn't have much of a selection in these sizes. I wouldn't mind getting the Michlin Pilot Cup Sports.....but they are a competition tire. I want something that will last more than a few thousand miles. Tire-easy.com carries the Dunlop Sp Sport 8000 in the sizes needed. I may go with those.

Chris, how much performance are you looking for? I can't really comment on how long or even how well they perform, but I'm running Falken RT-615's on my Volks. I think I paid $560 shipped for all four in 245/275 configuration.

Nevermind... not in the sizes you need.

Toyo has the T1R. It is reported to be an okay tire- much better than the T1S(had those and hated them). They have them in 225/245 in overall tire diameters that are close to the oem size(24.7" & 24.6"). This isn't as important to you as you can recalibrate your speedo(yellow box). Here's the [URL=http://www.toyo.com/docs/tires/product_spec.asp?lpid=18966&name=Proxes T1R

Have you thought about running the same size all around? I'm running 225/50's (Goodyear Eagle F1, GS-D3) on my stock AP1 wheels and I like the handling, much more stable.

Not mo' stable than a 225/245 setup, my friend. That doesnt mean that you can't like the setup better than the stock one though.

Falkns arnt avaliable in those sizes Skip... unfortuanatly

Id suggest either the 205-245 or 225-245. Only problem with the 225 up front is you will get alot more oversteer unless you have a bigger front sway bar...

you can get the Hankook RS-2 in either of those sizes in 16s for extremely cheap, less than 400 bucks shipped from www.edgeracing.com
