Default White Water Rafting

Its that time of year again where I like to go rafting. This year, I thought I would open it up to the Mid-A group to see if there is anyone interested. It is a different kind of rush where all you control is the steering, the throttle (and brake) is contriolled by the river.

This is the website of the outfitters I usually use. Priices and more information is available there.

We will be going on the Lower Youghiogheny River. This is a good river for the novice to mid level experience rafter. That means, if you have never been before, you can handle this river. Your +1's could handle this river as well if they would like to accompany us.

WWA provides you with all necessary safety gear, lunch midway down the river and offer you the obligatory souvinjer picture. The river is not terribly dangerous and they have spotters strategically located to help you if any thing goes awry.

I have been on this stretch four times so I know it well. the travel time to Ohiopyle PA, from Baltimore, is about 3-4 hours. I usually make a day trip out of this one, but lodgin is available around Ohioplye if you need it.

I am looking somewhere around the second to third week of September to go. The prices are much better in the middle of the week (39.00 vs 59.00) but I understand people have ot work, so you guys let me know.

my idea of rafting is a bunch of tubes, 100 beers and a river with a current of like 3 mph.

You should try the New River Gorge in Wva. It's closer and they have class 1-5 rapids (depending on the time of year). You can also camp out there too.

That would be the one. They close it one day or weekend or something like that a year so people can free base or bunji (sp?) jump off it.

Weekends are hit and miss. Most of the times I have been there, i have not had a reservation, however, if we have a relatively large group, reservations would be beneficial.
