Default winter tires

i am looking to get a set of tires for winter use. I wanted to know which tire would be the best. I was thinking about getting some all seasons or a set of dedicated winter tires. what are you guys using? i know it doesnt snow much here, so i am thinking snow tires might be a bit overkill

also, the tires will go on a set of ap2 wheels, 205/225.

thanks in advance!

Don't you want 205/245's? e3opian just ordered a set of A/S tires.

I just got a set of AP1 rims with Sumitomo HTR + High Performance All-Seasons on rhe back and Sumitomo HTR Z Ultra High Performance on the fronts. I know that rear traction will be good, but I am not so sure about front traction. At least footprint is a little less which I know help.

Dan, they're pricey, but I just picked up Bridgestone RE960AS as the highest rated all season Tire Rack carries. I don't know the AP2 stock sizes off the top of my head but you probably won't want a 225 for the rear.

i was thinking that too, but for winter tires tire rack only has 205/225 for ap1 wheels.

Mis-matching rear and front tires (With different grip cabablities...All seasons in the back, High Performance Summers in the front, or even different brands) are not a good idea

I had Perelli P-Zero Nero M+S all seasons. I never drove in the snow, but was happy with the handeling during the colder weather as well as in the summer.

ok, i just read through the stickied thread in the tire forum. it says the rear is 245. they also sai to get 205/55/16 and 245/45/16. when i searched that size on tirerack it turned up with zero results. wtf...

what are the correct tire size for an ap1 with the correct stagger. im so confused!!! another reason ap2 is better
