Coldest I've washed in was around 20-25 degrees...

I wonder how cold it will be tomorrow morning when I wash mine
I wash my S2K in winter using warm water, water proof gloves, an old style gardening sprinking can and dressing warmly. As long as I am warm and my hands are not exposed to the water and freezing air (using gauntlet length gardening/chemical treatment gloves) its pretty easy.
Of course if it's raining, I'll wear a two piece rain clothing and let the rain rinse of the washed car. Warmer (not hot) water, the right protection for your body is all you need.
It's not hard to do. I haven't tried to do it in sub-freezing temperature outside.
This keeps the S2K clean regardless of season.
