WOW Close Call
Rich, I had the same thing happen to me. I pay about 900 every 6 months for the S and the CR-V. Called USAA, and they wanted 1400 every 6 months for the same exact coverage.
When I had my civic a few years back, I was with USAA, paying about 120 bucks a month. When I bought my first S2000, they wanted over 300 a month. Thats when I switched to Geico. No joke, I probably save almost 50%!

the adjuster assigned to my car (Zach Varnauskas) never answers his phone, and does not respond to messages. he only sometimes gets back to me maybe 4 or 5 days after a complaint to his supervisor (Mia Johnson). he has told me that he's going to the body shop on X day and will call me at X time to let me know what is going on and never does so. he has told me he will submit a supplement for X damage and never gets around to it until i question him about it weeks later. he has agreed to submit a supplement for X damage and then later tells me that they won't cover it. he has lied to me more than once regarding the status of my car (stuff that the body shop is in charge of). i don't know why he'd lie about some stuff that he has no control over. he and his boss are always trying to pacify me, but then i find out that they were lying just to calm me down. i would be much rather that they tell me that they honestly don't know something, or that the answer is 'no' than have them give me 'definite' answers that turn out to be false. they have been 'waiting for a molding to come in' for almost 2 weeks now. now my car is promised to me tomorrow, but it's promised to me everyday, so who knows
and i know it might seem like a lot of what i listed might be Sport collision center's fault, but Geico (Zach) is the one communicating with me, he is the one who has the choice whether or not to lie to me, and he has consistently choosing to lie (when he actually does communicate). i thought that geico would handle the situation well in the beginning because they were VERY helpful, punctual, and maintained good relations with me. but once the car was actually handed over to them for the repairs, it was all downhill.

Reading some of these premiums makes my heart stop, but then I have to remember what it was like being in my early twenties, male, and trying to insure a car - a sports car no less.
From what I have heard- not to be misconstrued as fact- GEICO is great to have... if you never file a claim. Should a GEICO customer have an at-fault claim, they are most likely dropped or have their rates sky-rocket. I do not recall if the several such accounts also pertained to receiving moving violations.
Also, I recall those who have relayed said information to me as to say that their aftermarket stuff was not covered unless they had been claiming it on the vehicle beforehand. When one person called to have the items added, they were told that they would be dropped if the vehicle was found to have aftermarket performance parts.

I have erie insurance and I switched to them two years ago when I was 24 (apparently their rates drop when you turn 24 not 25). They wanted less then half of what geico and progressive did to insure my S and prelude at the time. I have not filed any claims with them so I don't know how their service is, but my parents were happy with them and the price was right. Now that I am married though it might be time to shop around again before a recent ticket goes on my record.
