Now if you want to speed things up even more buy a $100 router and plug your cable modem into that.

m777erlin - Only one thread at a time?! This is great!

Muz- Router definitely. Just trying to decide if I should get a wireless one now or wait since I've got nic's installed in all my pc's from my isdn router/network.

Tepevan- I kept putting it off hoping my neighbors would install wireless so I could surf for free! I guess I'll have to be the first.

I just got rid of mine. No web/net at the house. Only using the web at work. It gives me more free time at home and keeps me busy at work. And when the dreaded Monday comes, I look forward to reading all my e-mails and posts/threads from here.

how does this speed things up? A router can not possibly change the upload and download speed given by your isp. A router is a device used to connect your lan(more than one computer local) with the wan. Maybe you are referring to some kind of signal booster?

This is starting to sound like a Cable Modaholic Anonymous meeting!

Let me start "Hi my name is 'smyroad, and I'm a Cable Modaholic. It's been 8 hours, 37 minutes and 43 seconds since my last surf, or at cable modem speeds that's 344,031,020 bits..."

Ahhh I'll let my kids start the program, or maybe they'll just have to join Adult Children of Cable Modaholics.

I'll start the 12 step program as soon as this file is done downloading.

Actually I dropped cable several years ago because I was spending too much time in front of the TV. This will be a test to see if I've licked the habit!
