If you're going to shoot the bear I recommend a gut shot with a .30 caliber (or larger) rifle. It will kill the bear but it will live long enough to get off your property and back to its den before it bleeds to death in its sleep.

This technique works for pesky deer too.
Then I have to buy a bag of fertilizer and dump it on the sucker.
Of course that is after I climb through the woods full of thorns and crap to find the damn thing.

Not for Bambi...but I'm thinkin' for bear... One or the other below will be a new addition soon:

I received a call this morning from the fellow that excavated my property. His son saw 'our bear' less than a mile away...playing with his kid's toys out back of their home.
That may seem cute & all...but homie don't play that. This bear is seemingly too comfortable around homes here for my own comfort. And I won't be uncomfortable in my own dwelling.

Back home in FL we got bears, hogs, deers, turkeys, and gators in our backyard...and I by no means was in the "sticks". Ive seen all sorts of wildlife hanging around the cul-de-sac.
Oh and a 9mm pistol isnt gonna drop a bear (although beretta does make a nice sidearm). Buy a .50cal and be done with it.
