What do I need exactly to flash my ECU....?

I know that there is brands like Hondata & AEM but they sell a whole ECU i need only something to flash my ECU ?

 

you cant flash your factory ECU with the hondata software unless your car is USDM.

if you have basic mods like intake and exhaust you dont really need to tune. maybe if you add headers, just get a VAFC. still not THAT necessary.

so i guess the real question here is What are your mods?

 

mine is usdm !! would you mine to tell me something about the ecu flash ?

 

only 2006 and above USDM S2000's have flashable factory ECU's.

I thaught maybe s2000 like american cars you tune the ecu on stock car and it gives a lot of power gain and i mean alot

I thaught of buying AEM Engine mangment Plug and play saw i can tune my car & at the same time a friend of mine has( exhuast headers CAI and racing clutch ) he can tune his car also .

and about the tuning process we know a guy who had classes in USA of ECU tunning but he has only HP tune saw he sayed if guys want but the tuner and I will tune ur cars.

(USDM means your car is from the USA)

AEM engine management will not work with 06,07 and 08 S2000 unless you have a special harness that some people make.

and even if it worked, on a stock car you will see some gain, but it all depends on how good your tuner is. even then hp gain is between 15 and 20 hp. (highest i have seen on stock s2000)

you will also lose tranction control (VSA) and you will have a permanent check engine light.

 

well, maybe it wont work on these models because of ap2 ,but i have ap1 engine..
what about Hondata if im not mistaken it dont tune stock cars and there are some parts thats you have to change ?

s2koman..there is no point in getting a tuner when you dont have any modds on the car..V8's are different no need for modds and you can tune it and feel the difference.. the S is really different

get your self the basic power gainers..(Header intake clutch..etc)

Then just get a basic tuner like vafc or e manage and you'll be more than happy with the S.

dont bother with other ECU's and all that crap.. if your planning FI then consider an ECU if not..get the basic modds and thats it

Apexi VAFC or Greddy emanage AFTER u get the basics like exhaust, headers and an intake.

if u want ur car to be fast just buy a rear diff. even if u mod ur car with intake headers and exhaust, an s2000 with a rear diff will still be either next to u or infront in a straight line race.
