I need help! Please?
I've ordered all the seals and gaskets that I need to put my engine back together. When they come in, could I possibly pay someone who has an idea of what their doing to come down and help me get it all put back together? My dad offered to help me but he doesn't know what he's doing any more than I do and since my sister is getting married this saturday, he'll be busy all week and wont be able to help me till later next week. I've got a lot of friends and family coming in from all over the country and I can't tell you how badly I want to have my car running! For obvious reasons... Anyway, shoot me a pm or e-mail(Kyle_Easley@hotmail.com) if you'd be interested in coming to help me. I'll be doing it either Wednesday or Thursday evening. Let me know your price. Thanks!
I would love to help, but I have already been forced into 6 days a week at work - one month earlier than usual - and have to work on wedding stuff pretty much every day off per week....it's coming up fast.
Hope you get her up and running soon.

I was thinking....Since my car has 80k miles on it, are there any parts that I should replace while I've got the engine all tore down that will help to remove some of the mileage on the car? What are the first parts to go on our engines and would it be cost effective for me to replace them now?

Mother Fing what the Hell, Hear comes God or, Tim to the Rescue. Forget Tim. Here is your chance to tell your family that you did the work on your car. There is no more pride and/or honor then when you complete a project on your own and with what you wanted done. I seriously would recommend to buy Honda/Acura Engine Performance Books. I have Read 4 so far and there is SO MUCH information that I have found out about Honda engines. It does not have that much info on the F22c or F20c but, you learn that a Honda engine is Honda engine. Same things apply alot from the B16 all the way to the Top performing Fc series. Honda is perfection Thats why you lose 8hp when you bolt on that Indivia Exhaust. As, for the question anything to replace part. Its a Honda your rebuild should be at around 150,000 miles to 200,000 miles N/A or around 100,000 when F.I. Just all depends on what you have done to your car. 80,000K not so much. I would stop and think about what you plan on doing to your car as far as upgrades in the future. If F.I. do pistons. DO NOT GO UNDER 10.5:1 or else your runnning 25lbs to get up to 350hp. If not you could still do timing parts to be safe. Things I would do are Crank Bearings, Rods & Pistons w/rings (of course) APR head bolts and would redo Timiming Honestly there is not much more you need to do. You do not have to ever touch the crank unless going stroked. best thing to do is polish the journals thats about it.
Man I swear you will regret putting your engine together in a hurry to impress your family. Take as much time as needed to decide what you want your car to do not just now but also in the future. Street, Drag, Show or Just to last years. Read as many books and finish it off right. That is something that you wont regret. As, for someone helping I hope no one would except money from you. I think of most of us a family or a team. In this would be a great learning experience and project for all of us. I just wish I was still in KC. If you need some ideas PM me. I will try to help from where Im at as much as possible. Also, I would call Revline to talk to Chong about what you can do to Bullet Proof your motor. Not to a dealership who replace OEM parts and Doesnt work with performance parts on a daily basis.
Sorry but this is a touchy topic with me.

I completely agree with not rushing to reassemble the engine. That's why I wanted someone who had done it before to help me so that things went more smoothly and so that I could get it done RIGHT in less time. If there is anyone interested in helping, let me know. I can schedule my repairs when you're available.
Thanks for all the info Evil. I'll pm you with any questions.

Kyle simply asked if anyone knew of anything that should be done while he has the engine torn apart. Tim IS THE BEST PERSON TO CALL!!! I have owned my car 4.5 years and Tim has always been helpful, kind, and even has cut me A LOT of breaks on labor and parts.
One example: when my catalytic converter went out, Tim said "It's probably a good time to go with a testpipe. The Honda part is way too expensive". It would have been $900 with labor for the new cat, I spent $200. Boy, Tim sure is one of those evil charge you out the ass, dealership mechanics isn't he?
There have been several little things he has done for me outside the dealership, in his own garage...including a few driving lessons at no charge - for autoX.
Tim knows every Honda, inside and out, and can make solid recommendations based on his YEARS of experience to help decide what things could be done to help the car. He is a stand up guy who knows his stuff and can help Kyle figure out what he needs to do. There are a TON of S2000 owners, even non-
S2000 owners that will vouch for Tim.
I will give you credit for one thing, Kyle DOES need to take his time with the re-build and do it right the first time while the engine is taken apart.
I see moving from KC hasn't changed the negative, bitchy attitude you had when you were still here.
