June 14th Meet - First Annual Flint Hills Tour

Being that I am in management, I am always thinking and planning ahead. The weekend of June 13th and 14th, I am on vacation. What better way to spend some time off than with some S2000 folks? So, I am proposing a meet that weekend (preferably Sunday) for us KC folks...and anyone else from Okie, St. Louis that would like to join us. I am unsure what the exact agenda would be for the meet, but what I would like to know is how many peeps would be interested...and then I would be more than happy to organize it. If you can make it, or have some ideas for what the meet could consist of, please let me know. :burnrubr: |

Hey man! It was nice meeting you tonight... Like we talked about, I'm in for sure. I'd be happy to help you organize the event and try to get others involved, and like we talked about, I'm sure KC Z Club would be interested in helping put something together too.

I am up for it. I am new to the S2K scene as of Sat. I just picked up an '05 Rio and I cannot wait to see it in a pack of other S2K's.
I am going to be out and about tonight taking pics of it...any suggestions of places to shoot it? **Edit** - Shawnee Mission park usually makes for a good meet spot. Lots of parking back over by the lake/side where you can rent the boats from. |

I have a drive in mind, which I will map out entirely if all is agreeable to having one as a part of the meet...and beyond that I am up for suggestions. |
I think a night drive would be really cool, i doubt that everyone else would be up for that though lol. But either way i definitely think a cruise should be on the agenda, that was by far my favorite part of MOM09, i mean standing around and checking out the other cars is cool too, but the driving is par none lol.
Also, i know i'm clear in Topeka, but i would be more than happy to help plan/map out the route/whatever needs to be helped on, I have tons of free time and wouldn't mind driving up there a few times if needed :) |
I'm up for a night cruise if someone has a radar detector that doubles as a deer detector.

Wow! Love all the interest!!! I suggest a meeting at 8 am for breakfast/coffee/donuts/etc, then a drive....I am working on putting the drive portion together.....STAY TUNED YA'LL ....it's on like donkey kong!!!!! :LOL:

Sweet! i live southeast of Topeka :D I would offer the cruise to come by my house and chill, but you would have to drive down about 1/8th of a mile of gravel road D: No Bueno!

I am planning a route through eastern Kansas which will take us through some straights and curves, plenty of scenery for photo ops....some of my old stomping grounds that I know really well. I think you all will really like it. Right now I am still mapping it and working out where our stopping points for gas/photos/grub will be. I would like to meet east of Topeka and jump on the highway so that we can all be together and STAY together - the route has almost ZERO stoplights. :thumbup: |

Okay....map is done. Going to work out stopping points and writing out directions that are far better than google maps can give. Total route, starting at the Lecompton exit on the west edge of Lawrence and returning to the same point is approximately 140 miles. Estimated at 3.5 hours...but I doubt we will be that slow. :D |
Sounds good, hopefully Znigma chimes in and maybe the KC Z club will join in... and me in a s2k... seeing as I dont own one yet Lol. We going to experience some curvy roads?

The very beginning of the drive will have a few curves, but after that it's realitively straight until about halfway through. Trust me, this is an enjoyable drive. |
I have to work, but out of curiousity are you taking them on some back highways (K-40 Lawrence to Topeka and K-4 Topeka to Dover)? Back in my motorcycle days, those two highways were the ones to hit hard.

Well, fellas...I was hoping for a semi-early start. Like 8 am. Us old folks who have responsibilties and such have to make full use of a day off and a later start cuts more deeply into the day. The earlier we start, the less traffic will be on the roads. That's the way I am looking at it.
I was thinking we could do the drive starting at 8 am and then grab some grub either in Topeka or Lawrence, and both of those towns I know very well. |
I was planning on even as early as 7am. Anytime is good for me. I would like to be back early as well, especially if it a nice day to relax away with beer in hand at the pool.
Lets plan on 8am and you call the breakfast spot. I will just plan on being at the parking lot to await further instructions. Haha! :) |

I was thinking about getting a design together for T Shirts. The USDB has a screen printing shop were we can get T Shirts made pretty cheap. Not sure on the turn around time (Ill check tomorrow). but if anyone is interested let me know. I can then get money from everyone at the meet or some how and then we can get together one night to hand them out. If so, please come up with some designs before the meet.

I'm up for it. Do we want our s2ki names on them? That might cost a bit more, but it'd be tight. I don't mind paying a bit extra for it.

Dont have anything drawn up but as an idea for some of the shirt could have S2KI on the right chest with Kansas Crew right under it and then on the persons left arm have their forum name on the sleeve. On the back I am not sure of any ideas.

I would not expect a shirt to go for more than $20 no matter how much stuff you print all over it. |

I almost forgot. I was reading about this whole breakfast thing and I am totally confused. Why do we need have another name for the first two Red Bull's of the day? Drink them when you are filling your tank that morning and you're good to go til noon.
