Default Road Course

The road course at Heartland Park in Topeka will begin opening two times a month in April. I was viewing the rules and info...thought I should share.

Make your plans now! Should be lots of fun.

March 1 is sign up for April. I am going to sign up. Looking forward to it. This would work out great for an April meeting!

Those of us from KC should meet up and drive over to Topeka together. Angel I know u have done this. Any advise or suggestions, i.e., sign up early (on-line?), show up early @ the track, car 1/2 full of gas, where clean underwear, etc.?

James, Fran r u in?

Yup...we should caravan to Topeka.

Sign up early? YES, without a doubt...the track/event can only hold so many people...if registration opens March 1st then do it right then and there!

Show up early? If you are already registered you should be good...but, based on the amount of people they are going to get this year I would say yes, get there a little earlier than usual.

I would say fill up ALL the way before heading out...you will burn 1/4 tank getting there and probably burn 1/4 driving...or maybe more....so you should be just shy of running low when getting back home...

Clean underwear? Well, of course sir!!!

I'd suggest bringing extra fluids (coolant, brake, oil) as well as an extra set of front brake pads. I have not run HPT, but I have found those items necessary when running other courses. I'd also bring a set of tool so that you can do some basic work on the car (brake fluid bleed, for example). I also brought an air tank to adjust air pressures as well.

Run good pads and fresh brake fluid to start. You might want to change out your street pads to something with a bit more bite for the track (Hawk, EBC, or whatever your preferred brand is). Make sure your oil is topped off, but I wouldn't worry about changing it until afterwards. Make sure you cooling system has fresh fluid and that your clutch, power steering, and other vital fluids are good to go.

For comfort bring some snacks, water, chair, and in March probably a light jacket. Sun won't be much of a problem early in the season, but some people would bring an EZ-UP as Summer comes in. Some sunscreen and bug repellent is probably wise to throw in as well. If you have magnetic numbers you should bring those, but also grab some painters tap to keep the leading edge down and the numbers affixed to the car!

That's what comes to be @ 8am before my coffee, I'm sure I'll think of more later!

Fearless,
Change the title of the thread to Road Course and then in the topic description put April 12th...

This is A MEETING!!! YOU ALL WILL BE THERE
I just submitted for time off. I plan to leave work at 2pm.
Do you all want to meet for a quick bite to eat beforehand??
