Default Top Needs Repair

Okay, so I've noticed two very-very-very small tears in my top. it appears the material has been rubbing on a part of the railing and finally broke through a bit on the driver and passenger side. The tears are from the inside.

anyone know of a fix for this? I talked to one place, but they were quick to say I'd have to replace the whole thing. However, recommended I talk to Dr. Vinyl.

So, over the phone, I spoke with "Dr. Vinyl" a.k.a Mark Giannola who, to my surprise, refused to even look at it and then gave me a speech. "I've been doing this for 15 years---there's no fix...blah, blah, blah", he said. I thought his little speech and overall lack of interest was bad for business, but maybe he had a rough day. In the end, I still need somebody to take a look at the top. Any suggestions?

Thanks so much and we'll see you guys around.

-Marcus

Time to go hardcore hardtop?

Just kidding...I really don't get some of Kansas City's shop mentalities of being end all know it all's.

Unfortunately I can offer little guidance. I do have some of the OEM patch material if you wouldn't be afraid of a little DIY. If memory serves me correctly I think honda says to cut the won piece out and patch it, which if done incorrectly could make things a whole lot worse than they are now.

I have the same problem. I have the patch material also. The secret honda instructions off the internal network doesn't specify an adhiesive though, wierd. So I did test runs with 3 different ones. The stuff I settled on is still holding the patch on but the edges are pulling up. The part that sucks is the top folds over that rib which tears the bond of the glue. I might just have to get that hardtop I've always wanted.
