ecommerce solution?
My parents are thinking of getting their jewelry business online. they have no idea of what internet is. As a good son, i'm in charge of the project
I have massive amount of experience on surfing web and forums
but to do a commercial website with reliable shopping cart, i'm close to clueless.
I've looked into Yahoo Small Business, which sux coz they charge a percentage per transaction, and Monster Commerce. Seems like their interface is newbie friendly and i can get a decent website running in a short time.... I went to oscommerce.com too, but i'm lost in 2 mintues.
What other company do you guys recommand? this is a small project to test the water... so budget is limited to around $1k or less...
thanks for any pointers!

ALL shopping cart services charge a per transaction fee. The only way not to pay such a fee is to setup your own shopping cart on your own server/hosted server and manage it yourself. It doesn't sound as though you have the technical background for this so going with a service is your only practical option.
Several years ago I had a domain with a shopping cart. It wasn't difficult to set up, just a time consuming process if you have a number of items you're offering for sale. It's probably worth looking into at least.
