Anybody looking for a job?
Afternoon All,
I haven't posted in here before but I thought it wouldn't hurt to see if anyone in the Vegas area is looking for work (or knows someone who is) in the Mechanical Technician field.
I'm a Corporate Recruiter in technical ealms of Engineering and IT (primarily) and we deal with North American recruitment/staffing for one of our global clients involved in aerospace, aviation, and rail transport and transportation. In the Vegas area we are looking for people with mechanical technician backgrounds, focused on maintenance for the Monorail.
For the most part this client has a leaning towards individuals with Military backgrounds, though that is not required. Any experience dealing with machinery, whether on ships, ground-based vehicles, or air-based is highly regarded and would certainly increase the likelihood of receiving an offer of a position.
I hope nobody minds me posting this here as it is somewhat commercial in nature, but I wanted to make all you local folks known that these opportunities exist for anyone interested and applicable. This is not something that I gain personally from, so hopefully it'll be alright.
Feel free to shoot me a PM or post back in here if you have any questions or thoughts. Any advice on the best periodicals in which to advertise would also be appreciated. Presently we're debating posting in The Journal, but we haven't had much response in the past.

Not to scare people off, but I have heard a lot of talk about the monorail not lasting very long. It has been losing money each month from what I've heard and if it doesn't start getting used more often, it sounds like it won't be around.
Interesting...whereabouts did you hear that? I'd be interested to read up on that, but I can't find anything online. I wouldn't be able to speak to that myself and suppose only time will tell! The nice thing is that these positions may also deal with other rail transit systems so in terms of job stability, there shouldn't be any real concerns.
It sure is tough finding people for these jobs as there aren't too many qualified folks out there in this particular field. We've been supplying them with people for the past 2 years, almost non-stop and they've been hiring constantly due to increasing needs.

Ah sadly, no
We don't offer anything, but our clients do. I get the question a lot from new grads about whether I can help them but the truth is, I can't aside from giving them a name of someone to speak with in our client organizations. I'm sure you can understand why our clients don't pay us to find them people who can be located by calling a local school
Sucks sometimes because I'd like to help.
