Default Parking Citation

The first ever citation I receive in my S is not for speeding but for parking violation!
Last week, I received a parking citation for not showing my registration/plates. I had temporary dealer issued paper registration. The temporary plates along with the radio antenna was missing. So instead of paying the fine, I decided to appeal it. While filing for the appeal, the clerk gave me a choice to drop the appeal if I agreed to pay a reduced fine of $25, it was tempting but I decided to go on with the appeal because of principle. My hearing was scheduled for today. Last minute change in school schedule to attend a mandatory clinic training made me wish I had taken the $25. So during lunch time I race down to City Hall to pay the $25 reduced fine and be on my way. It turns out, that was a choice for yesterday not today and I had to attend the hearing or my fine is doubled. I'm thinking I'm royally . So I race back to school, attend the meeting, stressing out, giving the hater look to everyone who asked questions but luckily it ended 10 minutes short of my scheduled appearance. I VTEC my way to City Hall . Sign in and wait for my turn.

Now to the main event, after waiting for 45 minutes my name is called up. Walk into a room with the Hearing Officer, Metro Marshal and a Clerk are present. The conversation went like this;
HO: What is your name? Me: give my name.
HO: Where you giving a parking citation for no display of registration on your 2 door Honda? Me: Yes. Honda S2000.
HO: (looks straight into my eyes, with a grin on his face), "I have a S as well", Me:
HO: What year is yours? Me: 2002. HO: Mine is a year newer. Me: All the same, the limit is still 9k. HO:
HO: So why did you not have your registration displayed? Me: I had temporary dealer tags on, I don't know what happened to them. I have proof of purchase and Bill of Sale/Copy of Title. (I hand it over)
HO: When did you purchase it? .... (before I can respond) You purchased it with only 17k miles on it?! Me: Yes
HO: Do you currently have it registered? Me: Yes, I requested the rest of the day off from school and got it smogged and registered that afternoon. (I hand over the documents)
HO: So what do you think happened to those dealer tags? Me: I honestly don't know, I had them when I drove the car from St. Louis, MO to Vegas, and I remember having them that morning when I drove to school. I am thinking it's either a prank or they were stolen. My antenna is also missing if that makes any sense.
(Silence for a good 15 seconds)
HO: Well based on what you have said, I don't think your case qualifies for a reduction in fine... Me: ... HO: But rather, I find your case very plausible and I will dismiss the citation. Me: ...

We talked for a bit about S while the clerk prepared the paper work. Asked me a few questions about the dental school. I was wanting to ask him if he was on S2ki, but resisted. All in all, the Hearing Officer was a cool guy. So S2000 owners are

If things weren't already going well as they were. I didn't feel like walking over to the casino to get the parking ticket validated and drive towards the exit. As I pull up, the "Lady in the Booth" said she liked my car. I give her my parking ticket, and she goes no charge. I asked her, "Are you sure, the sign says '$2 for the first hour'". She said, "No you're good, have a nice day", I thanked her and went on my merry way. Had the top down and enjoyed the weather.

Today had a lot of unexpected surprises, just made me appreciate my car even more.
Did I mention, I love my car?!

Glad this worked out for the better. When we talked a few weeks back, I told you they would toss it out as long as you had your Bill of Sale/Title. There is usually a 30 day grace period before a fine can be applied.

Now.. For those dealer tags... You must have been really exited when we picked up the car. You did NOT get any, remember

Mike, I think you remember my excitement when we picked up the S. Glad you came along to make sure at least one of us was level headed.

I still love my car
